Say I have two samples loaded in banks 1A and 2A. I have Both on the Gate setting, so when i press it, it goes till the end of the sample. Is there a way to set up these two samples so that when i press 1A, and its playing the sample, that when i just hit 2A, sample 2A starts playing and 1A stops?

hey,
the 404 doesn't have mute groups, so this is not possible to set the machine to handle. however, if you set both pads to LOOP w/gate off, you can hit pad 1, then both pads simultaneously when you want pad 1 to cut off at the same time pad 2 begins to play :)

if you are using the sequencer, the 404 is iffy when handling looped pads, so you have to hit it again right before your sequence ends to avoid problems. by resampling your 'mute group' performance you delete this risk, and you can have your arranged chop sequence on a single pad... hope that makes sense.

you could also program marked samples into the sequencer in trigger mode, with the samples marked where you want them to cut off to emulate mute groups
