Hese my problem.

i just got a 8 gig Transcend SD card with the reader from amazon like someone on here suggested. the problem is when i try to format it using the directions at the end of the process the screen shows EJC. the manual says that means the SD card has been ejected but it is still inserted into the SD slot.

next when i try to go to the sample banks and push any of the bank buttons they all start flashing as if i wanted to format again and i have to go through the process again.

does any body know the cause of this and i i remedy the situation? is it the SD card or just a simple series of buttons i have to push?

thanks

I don't have an SX , but are you sure it isn't telling YOU to eject the card after the format and expecting this to happen before anything else?

Try a different SD card. Sounds like the card is not being recognized...???

Bingo. Bought a new card and it works fine. Roland Japan are apparently testing the Kingston cards now...

Same problem here. Bought a SanDisk 16GB that I can't format in my SP-404SX. I tried to format the card in two different SP-404SX with the same result on both.

Status: The SanDisk 16GB and SP-404SX are not a good combination.

Ended up with a Kingston 8GB that works on the SP-404SX and the SanDisk 16GB is now in my digital camera.

I have 3 cards for my 303 and 2 cards for my MPC. 4 cards work fine. One card is permanently shyte. When you only own 1 card it's hard to recognize that the issue is just a bad card. I swear those kinds of things have like a 20% failure rate.

I have two 32GB SDHC cards that I got in the mail today. One is a legit Transcend (Premium) Class 6. The other is a potentially sketchy Kingston 32GB Class 6.

The Kingston gave me the . . . EJC problem.
Tried formatting it on the Mac and then tried a second time. No good. I have the SP-404SX.

The Transcend went in, formatted. Put samples on it with the Mac and then they all worked. The REMAINING button says 50h remaining.

More about the Kingston card. I bought it from some sketchy overseas seller (China I'm pretty sure) on ebay and paid in Euros (no idea why). It cost me about 13USD. Shortly after paying with Paypal, I noticed the auction for the card was no longer in my "auctions I won" tab on ebay. I thought it was odd and thought "hey, maybe I didn't actually order it" and I went to paypal and found in my old transactions that I did in fact pay for it. But ebay had no record of the auction anymore. It had been over a month so I figured I got scammed and wanted paypal to refund me. I filed a claim against the seller. Then yesterday I get the Kingston card. My computer recognized it. The SP-404SX didn't. Not sure what that means, but I guess I thought kingston was a good card. I'll have to cancel the claim against the seller now.

In the meantime of figuring I wasn't getting the Kingston card, I bought the transcend.

Sorry it's so long. I would avoid the kingston cards unless others are having luck with them.

This is very true. It's shameful.

I just signed up as I had experienced similar issues as you, more people need to be warned about fake sd cards being sold on the internet, yes I purchased a 32gb kingston sd card, class 4 from amazon and it would not work in my panasonic lumix tz9, as this camara is fast so it needs a fast card to use it, so I decided to search online to test the speed of my sd card, and yes it is very slow, deffinattally not a card made from kingston, I now have another card from a local shop as cant trust the internet for memory cards.

hope this has helped people out there and good luck on your sd cards
Thank you
