I tried updating the software from 1.02 to 1.04, but when the countdown reached zero "Fe7" came up in the display. I turned the SP-404 off and when I turned it back on (without the memory card in) the display flashes "Err" and then shows "---". Is there any way I can fix this?

try this. cant guarantee it will work but its worth a shot.

format your card with your computer,

re download the operating system upgrade,

drag it onto the card , try to ugrade again . take card out and delete the upgrade file .

as far as i understand though, if i format it on the computer it would erase all the files on it. how could i use it with the SP 404 then? wouldn't it need to formatted on the sampler? (sorry i'm such a noob)

yes it will erase the files, if the os upgrade is the only file on the card the machine will boot from the card and install the operating system, when this is done, you have to put the card back in your computer, remove the file, put it back in your SP, and then the 404 will re format the card.

I tried formatting the card, but when it updated it said FE7 again, and the SP404 still won't work, it just says "Err" when powering up
