see title. I can't seem to get the hang of it. I want to know what people normally put it at for drums/chops and any variations that they would use based on bpm or pattern length or whatever.

There is no standard setting, sometimes I use it sometimes I don't, it depends on the chops and the feel of the track.

well i'm not sure if I just don't have the bpm and the quantize set right together, but whatever setting I have quantize on I can't get the drum track to actually sound the way I want it.

before I start recording or chopping I play original the sample and ride the tap button to get the tempo. Then I might timestretch my samples to fit if I want to speed up/slow down the tempo. I usually set quantize to 16.3 (sixteenth note triplets) for drums and bass...and either 16 or off for melody stuff. It is hard to get the hang of...but you will get it. practice sequencing with the quantize off so you can be aware of mistakes in your playing also.

stab the Tempo pad as if you were tapping your foot to a rhythm, on the beat

the 404 will figure out what BPM you're tapping

tap on the tap button to the beat...hence the name "tap button" :)

I quantize my kicks and snares in 16ths or 16 triplets, but sometimes in 8ths or 4's for claps and snares. I don't quantize hihats, cymbals or percussion. I never quantize chops either.
