just got my sp404sx and love it! brand new to the looping/sampling world and have been playing indie pop for about 15 years but this is a whole new way of looking at things! especially in a live setting.

anyways, onto SD cards...

i'm looking to buy another SD card tonight, i just feel that 1gb may not be enough memory for doing longer samples and loads of patterns, or am i completely wrong about this?

1. SDHC class ratings. Is it necessary to buy a high rated card, or should i go cheap and hope it fly's?

2. storage space on card. do i really need a 32gb card? even if a lot of my samples may be recorded into the mic and maybe a little long?

i'm looking at a transcend 8gb class 6 card. will i ever need to worry about space with this? is it too slow or fast?

thanks.

1. Buy the fastest card you can find. The 404SX records and plays directly to/from the card, and improvement in speed is noticable. Transcend Ultra III class will do.
2. Depends on how much you want to record or put on the card. Roughly, 1 minute of stereo recording equals 10 megabytes, so you can record about 800 minutes or 13 hours on an 8GB card. And that's stereo, if you record in mono (like, drums), that figure doubles. I'll let you decide if that is enough or not. ;)

Just for example, on another machine I'm putting together a soundset, it has about 500 drum samples and a few basses so far, about 10MB right now.
