Hey guys. Love the forum here. It's nice to have a place to go to for questions like this that isn't filled with Angry Internet Men.

I'm new to the 404, which I love, but not necessarily to beat making/electronic music production. . . which is why this is perplexing to me.

I'm trying to record a VERY simple pattern... I have two sounds, both set to loop. I hit them both after the metronome countdown. The length is set to 6 measures, which I am wanting. After six measures, it then plays again, but no samples are triggered, although the clock resets. Then it plays the samples as I intended, then plays the same length with NO SAMPLES playing.

What am I missing? It doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks for your help.

you probably have your sample set to play in loop mode on and gate mode off ( it means that when u hit the sample pad it start playing and when u hit it for the second time it stops playing ).
Try to switch the loop mode off and I think you'll get what u wanted

Welcome on forums :)

So does this mean that the only way to do get it to "loop" would be to hit the pad on "1" everytime? I tried having gate and loop on and it seemed to work but the loop came back around there was always a little hiccup. How do you make it loop as perfect as when it's in loop mode??

Yeah I use that trick alot vice versa...I luvit.

I use a sample that is 16-32 beats long ...use it in a pattern that only has 8 beats while hitting the next pad(which is a blank.wav) the longer sample will keep on playing till it´s done...that means after the short bassline and percussions are over but the guitar does a sorta solo till sample is over...ofcourse only if the samplepad of the guitar has it´s gate on and loop off so it plays that sample till the end in that pattern.
