Hey Folks,

Been using the 404 for a few months now with a live band and by myself and endless hours have happily slipped by while I tweak a sample. Great machine imo.

One annoyance, however, is that you don't seem to be able to resample at a specified tempo (or maybe I'm missing something). Does anyone have a fix for this as I've sampled a few banks at 118bpm and need to resample them at the same tempo with effects etc...

Thanks in advance! :? :? :?

good question

i've never found a workaround, trimming the start/end in the vain hope you'll get the desired bpm is way too fiddly

let's hope someone's found a way....

Heres hopin! I've attempted the trim etc but I agree, it's way to fiddly. Be handy if you could set it to sample the length of the sample if you know what I mean...but alas.....

no way to do it inside the box. you could always (re)sample out to a pc, then record back in and specify the tempo that way.

but i know that doesn't help...

No worries. Thanks for the suggestions. Might be an idea to get another 404 or 505 and do it that way I suppose....those clever people at Roland!

bpm of the fx = bpm of the sample

Also, the 404 applies the effect rhythm based on the highest BPM value when applied to multiple pads. So you want to run a pattern at 92 BPM, and let's say your drum loop is also 92 BPM, but you have a one-shot that's only 62 BPM. You want to resample the one-shot with delay at 92 BPM, so you simply apply the effect to your one-shot and the drum loop, even though you're not going to hit the drumloop pad. When you resample the one shot, the delay will be applied at 92 BPM, because the 404 can't run two separate delay times simultaneously. It defaults to the higher BPM. This is also the same way to set correct rhythmic timing on external sources.

And if your one-shot (or whatever) happens to be of higher BPM value than a pad with the correct timing, you simply change 62 BPM to 124 or 31 BPM so that it's count is less than the BPM you want. You'll have to adjust your delay settings though, since an old eighth beat will now be a quarter beat.

8)

Just create a blank sample with the bpm you need and use it as a bpm trimmer (?) for resampling!

Super secret technique. Don't tell anybody. 8)

Naw for real I use that technique every time... Just keep in mind that your trimmer sample and the one you want to resample got to be on the same bank! Forgot to mention that...

Try and you'll see how good this works! 8)

question: i understand how this awesomely works in the one shot with delay example... but say i have an 85 bpm drum loop i want to resample with effects but try to keep at 85 does the trim sample trick still apply for increased accuracy?
