So, I've got a SP-404 and SP-505 and have moved to Europe.

I was able to pack the 404 but had the 505 shipped to me. It came in today.

Without looking at it (the 505) I plugged it into an adapter (not converter) and a big boom happened and the lights went out in my place, and it smells. The 404 had NO problem doing this (without a converter).

I don't know much about the whole 120/240 thing, and feel a moron for blowing the lights out.

Is just my adapter for the 505 kaputt (hopefully)? And, if so, any suggestions on where to find another one? I got the 505 practically free, and while I love it, I'd no way pay the regular asking prices for it. But it's been my buddy for so long now :( . Where could I buy a replacement adaptor that would fit the 505?

I figured I'd put this in the 404 section since it's a more popular machine.

Ahhhhh shit.

With a bit of luck it's just the supply that got fried. I guess you can buy roland wallwarts in any music story doing Roland gear. Another option is to buy a generic wall wart that supplies the same dc amps ast the original but this time make sure to get a 220v one.

yeah i'd say 50/50 chance that its the adaptor or the machine

regardless you could maybe pay not too much to get a fuse replaced or something maybe? just a thought.

I think the 505 adapter is just a transformer with 18v AC output. These transformers usually have a fuse built right inside so you can't actually repair them. You should have got a 220/240 volt adapter for Europe. Hopefully the 505 has survived.

The 404 comes with a universal 9v DC power supply so that doesn't need changing - it's 110/240.
