Is there a cheap piece of gear that I can link up with the 404 to pitch my samples up, to avoid using a computer.?

either use the pitch thing on your turn table or

get a cassette player, best to get a 4 track.
The tascam joints are around 70 bucks and work great. They have a pitch wheel on them so you can increase the speed analog style.

That's how I do it

i use Acid Pro for pitching shit, Acid pitch-shift is good...SP pitch is crazy you can obtain another sound from a sample with it but it doesn't work as pitchshift.

come to think of it the sp-808 would also be a great companion to the 303 & 404...

fairly cheap but still more than what i would pay for something like that. Ill stick to the turntable pitch method. Im coming from all software background so im not used to do doing things like this, usually ill sample the record with the pitch untouched that way if i want to go back and use another part days later or months later i wont have to match the pitch according to the song. Then ill just grab a new section of the record loop it up, bring it in FL or whatever do a copy layer of a previous loop and thats it its in perfect pitch.

I use a Sony TCM-400DV and my SP-505 for pitch shifting. That cassette recorder doesn't have line-in, so I either use a mic or send my audio to tape via a beat up old dual cassette boombox with 5 band EQ. Also, I use GoldWave when I go the software route.
