no not true- I always use numbers. Issue is more likely sample rate or bit depth. I just ran into this issue from someone's battle samples. PITA!

Hey, I was just going to post a new topic because i started running into the same problem. I use the import folder a lot since I don't have a computer anymore so I load files from there. I have 460mb free on my card and what i'm trying to import is 70mb. But I just realized that I had a "2_live_crew" track in my import folder. So i'll see if it's the problem.

Hey actually I just read on the Roland site(my manual is far....) http://www.roland.com/support/article/?q=faq&p=SP-404&id=1832355 My problem was that I had an underscore in a name. So, numbers, no.

-A period (.) cannot be the first character of the file name. There are also some other characters ( \ / : , ; * ? " < > _ ) that you cannot use in a file name. (from the manual)

That's generally true of most operating systems as standard so files can be successfully moved between different systems. You generally want to avoid those characters in filenames since OS's give those characters special meanings. Such as '\' meaning a subdirectory. You can't use that character inside of a filename for such a reason. :)

I use this fantastic renaming tool to just make the files consecutive numbers only- nothing else- 1.wav, 2.wav, etc.
