Hey guys,
is it normal that you hear a quiet constant buzzing (it gets noticeable at around 2 o clock at the volume knob) from your sp404, when you have samples loaded into a bank and this bank is selected? for example, when i load samples to bank A, a buzzing sound comes up right after and when i switch to a bank with no samples loaded to, the buzzing is immediately gone.

i'm new to the sp and havent found any answers using the search function.

thanks in advance

Are you using the official roland power cable or a 3rd party one?

One time when I used the powercable from my Sampletrak it would cause the 404 to make a small fuzz everytime the BPM indicate strobed or the pads would blink in delete or patter select mode. The sound came from my speakers, not the unit.

Hey i am using the offical roland power cable. i'm thinking its some problem the unit has. i runned the sp with batteries and without rca cables plugged in and the problem still occured. i noticed that everytime i turn a knob the unit starts making these noises for a few seconds, then stops. in recording modus i can hear the pads blinking, too.^^ as soon as i hit record the buzzing stays constantly. after recording the buzzing is also there, as long as i stay on this bank or delete the sample again. Is there any electronics expert here, who can provide me with an hint?!

Sounds like some internal shielding problems or you have it next to another object spitting out a strong electromagnetic field. I'm not saying to open it up...is it a used unit? Or is this a recent problem that started happening and you're the only owner?

its a used unit, i just bought it a few days ago. i read a few posts and one user wrote, that its kind of normal that the sp 404 (og) makes some weird noises, when turning the voulme knob higher than about 3 o clock. the buzzing isnt loud at all, so maybe its just that sp dirt?! :) but i do not know since i havent heard any other 404 og yet.

do you have any experiences opening those things up, or any tips where those shielding problems could be?

sorry, haven't opened these up. I have SX and it doesn't buzz at all unless I bring it near other equipment or I make a loop in/out of a source.

I dunno who might be able to help, maybe someone will step up.

You can also experiment with different outlets. Sometimes this might affect the audio.
