Plenty info on "hat mutes" type thing here:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16877

as for rolls I usually use an external controller w roll or copy sample across 4 pads or so at increasing volumes and resample playing them in sequence with rolling fingers of one hand- works great.

Yup. The roll and flam work great on my Korg PadKontrol. It is just MIDI data triggering everything. The pad lights might not be able to keep up but the triggering still works fine. I had to program the PadKontrol banks to work with the SP but was easy once you got into the groove of it. I could even send you the file if you have same unit I think.

padkontrol is great

another trick I used to use, is hugely slow down the tempo of the sequence (say from 120 to 60) and do your high hats quantized at that slow speed...you can get all fancy and do fast stuff because its 60bpm, now crank it back to 120 and you have a super fast high hat pattern that is in time

Nice tracks. I dont have a pad kontrol yet but they look sick

and the trick slowing down stuff is cool but does it work outside of pattern mode ?

also can you resample pattern ? to one pad

No sadly you cannot resample Patterns on the 404. You will need to use something external. Also there is nothing to slow down outside of Pattern mode, you just have your sample pads sitting there. You create a Pattern at half your BPM for the track for example or 25% etc. and record then when you play it back at the BPM you want the track at it is much faster.

wats the best way to externally record something ? so that when you play it back it is in time perfectly

like can you midi it up so that when you hit record it hits play on the external source ?

is the pad kontrol the only pad controller with the xy pad ?

For those hi hat rolls try this it might work:
Have a pad with your hi hat sample and a sec or two of silence at the end, then make the pad loop, now adjust the end point of the loop to make it loop fast with a quicker end point or set the end point to loop later to do slower repeats. Now make about 3 different pads with different looping points/speeds and play them how you want, this should work fine and your loop points will be set to stay in beat since your changing them for every new beat.

In practice I find it simpler just to play it rather than spend time chopping them up with diff amounts of space. I usually resample and play what I want a few times until I get it right and then trim it.

Don't know about other controllers with roll/flam.

Recording the Pattern can be done a million diff ways. Generally trying to have it synced with another unit is not worth the time because you won't have any sync ability when recording the Pattern back from the external device anyway so you are going to have to re-trim it and get it back to your BPM. You might be able to experiment if you have something like the 505, 555, or 606 which have both MIDI in and out instead of only in.

External recording can be another SP, phone, tape recorder, computer, answering machine... anything. In the end you end up doing more trimming than you would like of resampled things but that's the way it goes.

i did these drums on a sx definitely possible, https://soundcloud.com/burger-time/burger-time-x-clamy-clamburger my trick for hats if u have sx is mark your sample to the tempo u want and with the delay u chose what kind of notes u want with the left knob, turn middle knob hard right, far right knob at like 9 o clock..... or u could just make a drum loop on a computer :)
