Does the OG 404 mark trick from wax inspektor work on the 404 sx?, my loop always goes back to the start point. Although the 404sx offers different editing and copy functions that compensate or defeat the need for this mark trick. All of these machines have their own nuances it seems...I'd like to own a 404og or 555 now.

Thank you all so much. It's fine since you can mark samples so efficiently on the 404sx, somebody from roland might have read the 404 mark mystery thread and addressed the issue with the new editing style.

yeah I guess it doesn't work like that. I've owned an sx for at least a year and I always wondered about that. I like to copy (LUV it) my sample across the pads and mark each individually. Takes some time but it's fine as long as you don't work with TOO long samples :)

Yeah me too, it's cool because you can mark just the start or end point and then truncate the unused shit. It's just funny to me since I can nail the correct bpm of a loop on my 303 every time. Thank you

Depending on how you play your chop, you could only mark the beginning?

I usually play chops on gate so what is do is->

play my sample
mark where my second sample should start
copy to 2
trunk 2
play sample 2
mark where thrid sample should start
copy to 3
trunk 3

RINSE REPEAT.

doesn't work if you like your chops on loop.

I've experimented with that too. It's fine I can sample back to my 303 if I want to work with loops. It just seems as though the 404sx would be more accurate at calculating bpm than the 303.

What do you cats mean when you say "trunk" or "truncate" your samples?

To chop off the parts that you don't want. Use the mark features then do delete + mark.

I think the Mark Mystery thing was supplanted by copy/exchange sample functions.
