Heres a qiuck test i ran on the 2 machines.I sampled a drum break on both machines at the highest possible level without peeking.Ive been debating on selling my mpc cuz I rarely use it, plus I dont really like the workflow on it and I wanted to do this test before I sold it,and this test pretty much confirmed my choice to go ahead and sell it!lol no hate on the mp but the SP chose me so I gotta do what I gotta do!

mp vs sp.mp3 - 0.25MB

Yeah, I like the a/d converters on roland products a lot more. I get a fuller sound with my little 303 than a big mpc 60.

I still love my mpc, even though I haven't been using it lately.

Congrats on the new 303, it's a lot of fun.

Though, I always wanted one because I thought that the sound was way better then the 404, which isn't really true. It sounds a little different but there is nothing major about it. I don't think that anybody would be able to tell if a track was produced on the 404 or 303 by just listening.

I think I could, but I helped do the 303/404 sound test.
Lord Beatjitzu should put up two different tracks one made on the 303 and one on the 404 then setup a poll and we can all test our ears and have a little fun.

Yo I just picked up a 404 the other day. This thing is kicking my fucking ass. Holy crap. I love it. I've been up mad late playing with that thing. I still have a 202, and I will put up a 202/404 sound comparasion within a week or two if anyone is interested.

The 404 is one of the dopest samplers I've ever used. Before I got it I used my 202 all the time for a whole bunch of shit, and now the 404 has the same feel to it, but a shit load more effects and more features. I'm loving it for sure.

haha, me too man. holy shit. I'm sitting here at work tired as shit because I was up all night playing with that shit. It's so ill. I love my 202, but the 404 is like the 202 on steroids.

I was going to do a sound comparission for my own info at some point, and i will post it up for sure. It'll probably be a week or two, but I'll get it up.

Do me a favor an run a breakbeat through the 202 and load it as a .wav file so I can chop it in to a kit for everyone and I'll post it in the library, I'm sure the 202 adds a nice sound with it's a/d converter.

Yeah that won't be a problem. The 202 has four sampling modes, hi fi, standard, lo fi, and lo fi 2 with different sample rates. I'll run it through all four and the the standard and lo fi settings on the 404. Like I said it'll take me a week or two until I can post it (i'm only online at work), but I'll post it up soon.

Yo, Dr.Sample, I had kind of a weak moment the other day and I bought a Zoom Sampletrak st224 on ebay. I got it for less than $100 though so I'm fucking psyched. I'm going to wait until I get that, then do a 202/404/St224 comparission. It'll be another week or so, but I'm working on it...

I rocked a sampletrak for w few months. Thats a really ill sampler. Great companion for an SP. Its got one of the best timestretches ive heard on hardware and it creates scales ! plus the filter is sick. Sounds nice n dirty to.
