All the record shops in PR are dead. Everything is only about the money here and not so hot with collecting. Even the comic shops are extinct. I dig for records in small antigue shops now and whenever the record collecting convention comes to town which is once a year. Yeah I live in the crate diggers Hell. My only advantage from this is that for their lack of love for vinyl, I walk out with promo albums from the '60s for 50 cents each. |

cartesia wrote: only record shops I go to these days are charity stores! and no sign of them dying out ![]() yup, that and flea markets are my only option without taking a trip now. 3 good record stores by me closed about 5- 6 years ago. It sucks because they were hip hop themed record stores, i would have like to try getting my demos promoted in there. |

I'm glad we don't have LP-only record stores here, only a few that also sell CD's, DVD's and videogames with a neat collection of LP's. (I'm saying 'a few', but there is only one in my town, a couple within 10 mile distance. It's strange, but it's actually a bit booming here. Sad fact is that most LP's don't come cheap at all, even the mediocre ones. There are no records for 50 cents here, it starts at about 5 bucks I think. Also, there are a lot very modern records, like Eminem's latest album, Guns 'n Roses, Madonna, you name it. Not quite what the average digger is looking for I suppose. |

Yeah, some local folks here apparently also sell lots of LPs. Usually a stock of anywhere between about 4.000 and 60.000 LPs. I'm guessing they used to have physical shops too in the old days. It's not quite a wonder lots of the physical shop died though as they tend to sell LPs for like 3 times the price of normal CDs. |

Austin has a pretty decent scene I guess. ATX is home of SXSW so the musical agriculture (if i can say that) is pretty rich. I support most shops here. I tend to support the smaller shops who are growing because I want to watch them grow. Always support the smaller shops, they hurt the most! Other than that, the thrift stores here are so-so. |
