more and more amor.mp3 - 4.22MB
drum break.wav - 1.16MB

I grabbed this at a record shop down her in Vegas that's no longer in business...
Here's some background for the music history crowd... pretty interesting stuff:
Herb Alpert, Co-Founder A&M Records

Let's try to keep this to a week... although I don't really care for starting the poll on the weekend, so unless there are any objections, let's plan on starting the poll a week from Sunday. 8)

You got me over here....
I like Herb Albert shit. I have at least 4 other records of them/him (?). They're really cheap but got sum good stuff to pick. That drumbreak is really smooth and easy to cut. Fits perfect to the sample imo.
My 'mark' button is gettin on fire. *chop chop*

That shit is sooo funny. You made my weekend with this. Drums are awesome, I mean they work quit good for me... 8)
I never smiled that much during a battle, seriously. Fun sample!!! Everybody get on it!

I haven't been on my sp for like a month & a half (abroad), and I was just learning it then, but I'll see what I can do with this.

AYE! I'm stoked that you guys are feelin this one. It was a fun digging sesh that lead me to it. The drums came from the flip side of this same record so I figured they would go together pretty well.

I noticed that too Wax... there's some pretty heavy panning on the different parts.

Lovin the cover art with the whip cream! everything about that is so dope!!!

i can't remember the last time i sampled Stereo into the 404
every pad i sample is in mono
do you guys generally do the same (for polyphony or other reasons)?

i'm loving these samples Count!

i almost always sample the main peice(es) of my beats in stereo and everything else i layer it with in mono, like vocal samples, string lines,etc...i hear a lot of people talk about strictly sampling in mono, but to me,it sucks some life out of the sample,as well as stripping some of its elements.and since the 404 doesnt have panning,a stereo sample is an easy way to get a little bit of it.i dont know,i could be completely wrong.and of course if a sample is heavily left or right on the record, you have to get it in mono-well,at least for these battles-you could always pan it towards the weak direction in a software program.anyway,i'm gonna try to get on this if i get time,i'm working on like 10 beats at once right now, lol.

I reckon... if my 404 had that I'd be going nuts resampling my own breaks.

Will jump on this tomorrow night.

I'm in serious polyphony troubles. Is it allowed to record my basic pattern to the pc just to have some kinda metronom? I want to resample an instrument track. Know I mean...? Let the pattern play by the pc and bang some shit as one line... I could save some polyphony, cause it just would take 2 voices instead of 4 or 6 cause the instruments are layering each other. Is it ok with you, if Inderstand the rules completly it must be alright I guess?!

This is much more work than I thought. I haven't seen daylight for nearly 3 days now...

(I know it might be a little controversial, but why can't we bring all warriors to an equal level? I'm really convinced those rich ass 555 users have a lot more advantages... (just technical 8) )
What would you do without your loop capture count???!!! :P
How about some external pattern resample for everybody... ? I mean the rules where made at a time the 555 wasn't on the market yet. If you guys think it's not worth to discuss that shit again it's cool with me, really. 8) )

I won't make any promises but I guess i got sth. nice in the trunk. Hopefully nobody looped the same part I did.... *finger crosses*
