Well it seems that way but after being only like 30 seconda short, I made another beat and I'm now about a minute and a half short! I think its because I'm making the beats and editing the video at the same time!

 That's pretty funny. Looking forward to the viewing/listening experience.

Anyone who wants to share tracks as they go pls feel free to throw something up. I might do that once I get some finished stuff to link together. I have a bunch of source samples that I just can't get out from under. These chops keep talking to me. Having strange conversations... they won't let me move on to the next harvest... the next set of waves. I feel like I'm locked in a palace of undiscovered loops trying to find my way from the hall of mirrors to the back door!

Same fkn thing here  actually right now I'm working on multiple tracks at the same time. Thing started to heat up.
Chopped about ten different tracks, and I'm going for a combo of beat flipping and remixing - as in each of the tracks will consist only of the sounds from designated sample source, I'm not going to mix them in between. First half of the mix (I got about 15 minutes so far, but it's still pretty much basic, needs vocals and some more stabs and one shots) is more of a remix - longer drum brakes and harmonies sampled, but still different than the original sample source (arrangement wise), whereas the second half of the mix is all about one shots and brutal chopping :)

This is literally the first one I did, but I just know I'm going to end the mixtape with it :

https://soundcloud.com/user-853604300/h ... -sneakpeak

(sample source : Bob Dylan "New pony")

Vinyl is in terrible shape, as you can hear, tried to pull the best out of it, but it's still a crackling nightmare, too much for my taste. Also the highs are rolled off brutally.
The track is not really finished, I'm probably going to add couple of more things, dunno yet. What I definitely do know is - I'm ending the mix with this one.

I'm recording everything off Numark pt01 scratch directly into SP 404 sx, the speed is set to 33, for added heaviness of the drums, though I'm changing the bpm of the tracks on the SP constantly, since I'm trying to get them all into a seamless transition.

Looking forward to hearing your mixes fam!

I haven't started yet, I just need to finish up a beat for an Elektronauts battle, then I'm working on this.

I bought a few records for this so far, going out this weekend to buy the rest, then I'm ready to get started!

im hella excited to be a part of this and see what others can come up with. thank the lawd i was able to come up with alot of fire records at a yard sale for only $50 so im at a huge advantage but ill probably limit myself to around 10 albums out of the 200 i came up with. ill also keep yall updated and let you all know what records ill be using when im finished selecting them.

i decided to start off fresh and just use a brand new SD card just for this marathon. striving for ULTRA MARATHON but well see what happens with the records i use. lets all hope for some flames and i wish the best of luck to everyone else as well. LETS GET IT!!<3

This is dope man! Very meticulous, love the drums too, especially compression on the kick. You found a nice sweet spot there

Pretty much finished!! Man the editing of the video was the hardest challenge!!!! and at times it gets a little experimental/ambient which I found worked well with some of the clips in the video! Overall I'm pretty pleased with the outcome, but its definitely a case of having to listen/watch it as a video rather than just the audio on its own! Heres a little preview, the track was the last one I made with samples from the BBC sound effects LP, teh Alice in Wonderland DVD and another LP I grabbed from the £1 sale since posting the photo of my haul (Art Farmer-Gentle Eyes).

That's a dope track man. I love Art Farmer. Nice grab! I thought I heard the elevator from Wish You Were Here in there as well!

Thanks man!! I'd never heard of him just read the instruments on the back and thought there's bound to have something to sample for at least 1 beat!!!

The background sounds are all from the BBC sound effects, theres an "electrical buzz", "unloading trollies" and a "firework display".

Was just thinking maybe youtube will take my video down as theres bound to be some copyright issues as in some places there's long periods of samples. Anyone know an alternative, is vimeo worth trying?

i'm done fam >

https://soundcloud.com/user-853604300/g ... -challenge

Equipment used >
- SP 404sx
- Numark PT01 scratch
- TC Electronic "The prophet" delay pedal

Recorded everything off Numark to SP (speed set to 33)
Chopped, played and produced on SP 404sx

Tracklist / Sample source >
00:00 - 01:48 > Donna Summer 'Once upon a time (live)'
01:48 - 04:12 > MECO 'Star wars title theme'
04:12 - 06:59 > Donna Summer 'Once upon a time (live)'
06:59 - 09:30 > The Broadway matadors 'Hare Krishna & Where do I go'
09:30 - 12:30 > MECO 'Funk'
12:30 - 14:14 > The New Seekers 'Ride a horse'
14:14 - 15:40 > Thin Lizzy 'Dancing in the moonlight'
15:40 - 17:36 > Gloria Gaynor 'Substitute'
17:36 - 20:10 > Blondie 'Fade away and radiate'
20: 10 - 23:44 > The James Gang 'Got no time for trouble'
23:44 -27:06 > Bob Dilan 'New pony'

Also used >
- Assimil 'Learning English'
- Sample of Joe Zawinul's speech (very intro to mixtape)
- Few samples off 'Scratch roulette 45'(on intros to second & last track)

Cheats (hey, we're all human after all  )>
- Besides sampling Zawinul off Youtube, and using a few samples off 'Scratch roulette 45' vinyl (not part of the 10$ batch) I had to switch to cubase to record scratches, because when adrenaline starts to flow, I clip the SP's inputs way too much and way too easily. And I don't like to chop 'em into individual phrases/samples, I was more into recording a couple of takes and then optioning for the best one.
Also used 'ultramaximizer' after exporting the final mix, to even out the levels a bit.

Other than that, it was all SP + Numark + The Prophet

Overall - I had tons of fun man. Almost didn't want it to end, but I feel like this is the point where, if I continue adding stuff on top of these tracks - only gonna ruin it.

Personally I feel that Thin Lizzy, Blondie and Bob Dilan flips turned out really interesting, I'm probably gonna go back to it in the future

Peace !
