Thanks for the votes last battle, glad people were feeling the track [although I'm afraid you are going to regret making me the leader of the next battle again] So the last time I had to host the SPBB I went through some old CDs but overall I was disappointed with the sample selection [and it seemed most of you were as well] so instead of putting everyone through that again I'm going to take this in a different direction. The name of the game is editing. I'm going to provide some really over-abused samples. The challenge lies in making them COMPLETELY UNRECOGNIZABLE. I want you to process these things beyond reason. There should be no shred of evidence for anyone to even guess where the sample material came from. for some examples I turned these reverb tails from an old big band record http://puu.sh/aLjS0/4860a55b1a.mp3 into this whole song (including the drums) https://sumtapes.bandcamp.com/track/lofi-cult and also these drums http://puu.sh/bpymN/8d1c5f8e6a.mp3 just that bit of instrument tail you hear made both kicks and the snare, I think the hi hat was the 's' in 'sometimes' with the COMP on the 303, and the non-drum noises in Lofi Cult are I think just 303 Timestretch Rules: 1-one SP only, that should be more than enough to mangle beyond recognition 2-the samples must be completely unidentifiable. Do your worst. Don't worry about making a banger, try to make some weird shit. Experiment with FX you never use. Be extra weird. The Notorious Samples: http://puu.sh/bpLKc/0a220a519e.mp3 http://puu.sh/bpLOm/1344867808.mp3 http://puu.sh/bpLPC/a4230f44a8.mp3 Hopefully no one hates me for this ![]() |

Cool idea for the battle. I'm not very good at hiding the originals usually but I tried nonetheless lol Here it is: https://app.box.com/s/ww3nd4716ca2wb1ge7h7 Impeach the president and nautalis haha 2 of the most overused samples ever.. Not familiar with the other one though |

Teewok wrote: 2 of the most overused samples ever hahaha yeah that was the point, things that have been so sampled there becomes a stigma to sample them... but if we sample them and then mangle them beyond recognition we find a way to make an old played out sound brand new again that was also a pretty fast flip man, jeez. medearis wrote: b....b... mommy says mangling is for the devil and her friends... hahahahaha |

I'm assuming this challenge is to make a track using ONLY the samples provided, i.e. no outside samples/beats etc? |

Uh.. yeh.. I'll be the first to admit this came out weird... the samples churning out an awkward waltz featuring some serious ring modulator-abuse ![]() l i f - Karheinz' Jitterbug |
