Oi Locksmith looks like you missed an entry for the voting, ha! Is that 'cause I went 1 second overtime? No worries, I got the highest loss-to-win ratio on these boards to maintain. Thanks for linking my shit in your post anyway. Lots to listen to, some nice entries! Some thoughts/feedback: Davidarcade: Blown out drums made me worry for my headphones. Nice drum pattern dude, weird everything else. Not bad. Obtainius: Liking the softer volume a bunch here, nice use of ducking compression. Cool reverso-vibe & FX abuse. Auxxmusic: Are these battle beats by all three of you guys or is it just the one each time? Either way, nice drums (especially with the 2nd break used for fills) & spacey echo. Got an almost Mo Wax edge to it. Asha C: Oh man, that's a sick bassline you pulled out. That makes it my fave so far. Sounds like you could've done more if it weren't for the <1min rule. Unrelated: just noticed you scored the 505, nice! How's it treating you? Timmytoga: refreshing to hear someone push the free jazz angle after everyone else's work. Liking it more the 2nd time I heard it. It's the right kind of mess. No worries about missing the one-five-nine rule over here. otbt: Cool half-time rhythm & rolls. Again, nice use of the jazz to get something frantic happening. Another highlight. All 808, right? Locksmith: Weeeeeird, dude, weird. Those ring-mod drums are too future for me. Ellaguru: Another WTF moment. That you rapping? Reminds me of Kevin Martin (The Bug) circa Ice's Bad Blood LP. Sheeeit, can't deny this is gnarly. Even with the fucked ending. Who are you?! MarcoGrouch: Basic, not bad but a bit blown out sounding. Good to hear that broken SP timestretch too. Gotta admit listening to all beats back-o-back I wanna start hearing a lot more variety. Everything's good so far but a bit samey. Some change ups, different rhythms, faster tempos, less 404 MFX abuse (let your chops and patterns speak for themselves) would be good to stand out. OgGhoul: Avoiding straight loops paid off here, plus that ending... Creepy. IIIII: Fuck yeah, more extracted bass awesomeness PLUS a rap. Holy crap that's one entertaining flip. A proper song as a battle beat? Bar: Raised. BIRD¥: Nick of time, eh? Nice move using the numbers as a hook to set up the melody. Soundcloud messed with me by playing your song on repeat too, things went Groundhog Day for a bit. This was just the tune to make me start questioning my sanity. Highlights: Asha C, otbt, Ellaguru, IIIII Voted IIIII. Easy. |

thanks for the partecipants best track: IIIII (vote for), futuristic and vibey at same time close seconds: Obtainius and otbt, cool works! fattest track: asha c , yes track "why don't you loop only that?": OgGhoul...the first 10seconds were very top class...i hoped they continued...but... best unusual finale: unfolding...great and changing finale!! IIIII wrote: ella playin that accordion ![]() thanks, i tried! Unfolding wrote: Ellaguru: Another WTF moment. That you rapping? Reminds me of Kevin Martin (The Bug) circa Ice's Bad Blood LP. Sheeeit, can't deny this is gnarly. Even with the fucked ending. Who are you?! thanks!! this wasn't intentional, it was more a sort of try of imitation of mr doom (impossible to imitate)...anyway i like a lot kevin Martin (GOD "loco"1992 and "possession"1992, the BUG "tapping the conversation"1996(maybe),some works with alec empire, and TECHNO ANIMAL(with j broaderick)"brotherhood of the bomb"2001...i like a bit less all his dubsteppy works, but i admit that with Burial and Kode9 is one of the most interesting also in that field)...i have to listen to ICE better, what you reccomend about it? |

Ahh, I should've picked the Metal Face reference! Mate, I could bang on about Martin & Broadrick for days. Don't want to hijack this thread so check your PM real soon for a proper answer. For anyone else reading this & curious, is what I was reminded of when I heard your voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rrs0klV8wXc. Hint: Ice isn't for impatient listeners. |

ARCADE SWAGGER-Sweeeet, spacey intro was cool and loved the drums as they came in. The djfx looper worked really well for the start but didn't seem to fit as well towards the end. Overall, nice heavy track !! BEETEK- Very similar to the last one in terms of the chops and djfx looper use. Always love a bit of reverse!! Good work. AUX-Enjoyed that spacey delay chop and the glitchy stutters. Similar chops again to the last 2, sweet snare slap and shuffle. Timmy toga-Crazy drum shuffle going on, sounded all out of time and glitchy in n intentional way. Ending was a little sudden. OTBT-Loved how that intro kicked in. Nice glitchy sounding chops that somehow worked, can't imagine how you put it together to make it fit but you did. The guitar sounded cool and loved the fat drum sound. Locksmith-Drum sound was kind of muffled but I'm guessing that was intentional. really liked what you had going for the outré would liked more of that in the track. UNFOLDING-Spacey vibe and enjoyed the echoey sounding chops. Drum shuffle was cool, AHAHA ENDING WAS FREAKING CRAZY D&B from outer space, good work. ELLAGURU-BAM straight in with a crazy up tempo intro, that change up worked really well, like what you had going on with the sinister vocals. MARCO GROUCH-LOVED the sloppy drum vibe and evil drone!! good work. Nice use of the reverse button!! OG GHOUL-Crazy glitched out intro and then the roll into the main loop was a strange transition, like 2 separate tracks almost. Liked what you had going on at 00:37, that creepy ambient stuff sounded cool, would liked to have heard more like that earlier on. IIIII-SWEEEEET DRUMS and bass line, LOVED THAT BASS LINE!!! Cool buzzy synth line at about 50 seconds in. Liked how you had more than one vocal going on. Gooood work!!! BYRD-Liked how it came in but then that main loop part ended too soon I thought, was pleased when it came back in but I guess its hard to have such defined "parts" in such a small time limit. Sweet snare slap. Liked the overall hissy recording!! Thanks for the comments and votes, @Unfolding: Yeah its pretty good man, haven't used it all that much because of lack of time but I LOVE the fact that you can resample with ext source as well as pads and the 4 track sequencer I can see coming in pretty handy too. Voted for Marco Grouch but enjoyed all of the entries!!! Cheers |
