Thoughts... Gis: Liking the rhythm & spaced-out vibe in this one. Nailed it! Auxx: This is a pro effort on the production front, great loop but could've used more variety than a 2-bars+FX. Want to hear you do more to the samples! Asha C: THIS IS GREAT! Very tasteful job on the samples, sounds restrained like you knew exactly what the samples should do. Buttery: Nice chops, nice change ups, serious lo fi. Cool! Oja1991: All about the atmosphere right? Would've liked to hear you push the drums to something a little more complex (maybe more than one kick+snare or copy the sample with different volumes to simulate accents etc). More I listen to this one the more I like it though. Alnitak: Got a bit of a 90s vibe here with the break & the horn stabs. Some of the chops didn't quite sound natural even though they were on time, dunno if it was the sample's cadence of what but some of the hits kinda threw me. Ellaguru: This is sick! Loads of variety, resampling & changeups. Focus on something less obvious to sample & work on... Everything I like in a battle beat. Glitchy bit near the end had some nice payoffs too. You had fun with this one, right? Freshserf: Great use of wah+reverb (might have to rip that off next round, ha!). Such a chill flip, the backgound stuff in this makes it. Teewok: All killer. That simple. Toss up between Asha C & Ellaguru for the #1 spot... Voted Ellaguru because of the complexity of the flip. Good battle, everyone! |

Gis: Always enjoy your tracks. Dope bass sound and pace. I don't remember hearing a sitar in the samples ![]() Auxx: Refreshing, since I seem to assume hip hop is about to flood my ears listening back to battles haha. Nice house vibe. Dig it! Unfolding: Nice and progressive throughout. Well done with the build up and keeping that energy going, no anticlimax there. Asha C: Reeeeal nice vibe! Refreshing again. Nice progression and use of both samples as well. Butteryslickness: Had my head nodding the whole way. Raw vibe with awesome chops. Oja1991: The airy breakthrough kinda bit is just sick. I dunno how to explain it but sounds dope. Interesting choice of chops as well. Another head nodder for me. Ellaguru: Can hardly put my finger on the sample source, which is a compliment in my eyes. Experimenting and making new sounds on top of arranging and structuring your track. Drums and samples come in and out of time but I like it in this track, adds that organic touch since the chops sound so synthetic. FreshSerfPro: Lay back. Every sound has space to breathe, real nice space! Bass chops are real nice also. Teewok: Dope bass again! (I'm kicking myself I didn't play with it haha) Head nodding again but the emotion in your track is just gutting. Reeeally feeling something from it. So many variations as well as usual. Left me wanting more. Everyone's entries are sick. Got no qualms with any of them hence not giving any constructive criticism sorry. I know I should vote for someone different but TEEWOK's just pulling my heart strings on this one for some reason. |

Gis - Cool beat. Sounds like you reversed the sample here? Auxx - Enjoyed the melody and the uptempo vibe. Unfolding - Enjoyed the beat throughout. Nice variations in drums (35 seconds is where it got interesting with the break). Asha C - Same bass chops as Unfolding lol. Another uptempo beat though which is refreshing to hear sometimes. A lot of good variations here and very melodic. Butteryslickness - Dope beat. I like how u ended the bar at 18 seconds then and flip at the 24 second mark was also cool. They got a full house arcade game? lol Oja - Great percussion stuff happening here. Reminds me of walking through a cave and finding treasure Alnitak - Booming drums. Liked what you were doing towards the the end at the 2 minute mark Ellaguru - Beat sounded nice and full. Good chops. A lot of cool effects going on. FreshSerf - That was pretty damn smooth. I like how you work the wahs with the bass. A lot of cool manipulations happening here. Was a toss up between Asha C and FreshSerfPro for me. Going with Asha because I like the way he worked in more of the melodic pieces from the Lady Moonlight sample |

All these tunes were super dope, respect to all the entries - it came down to a hard tie between Teewok for the pure melodies and pro tight beat, Asha for excellent integration of the subtle sounds and Ellaguru for flipping it really upbeat and funky - crazy tight. Vote went to Ellaguru because their jam made me wanna hop up and like go skateboard and graffiti or something! Peace! |

GIS: Nice ethereal sounds man. Great mood/atmosphere created. Liked the beats, unusual to hear you doing more beat orientated stuff but I like it. AUX: Nice lofi kinda vibe on the intro straight in there with an unexpected beat. Good use of effects, wern't too prominent but kept a good variation in the track. UNFOLDING: I couldn't believe it when I was finished and about to record my battle I saw yours come up and checked it out before recording mine and was like shiiiiiiit, at first I thought I 'd have to redo my own. You managed to get a sweet beat going in yours, I couldn't get anything going, hence just having a kick on each beat haha. Loved the drum sound and the rhythm. Some real nice changes too, loved that changeup at 00:35, subtle but great. Theres a real energy to the track. Butteryslickness: Loved that shuffly beat and the piano melody you had going.I really want to get some shuffly drums like this on stuff but I just aint got the groove to do it. Oja1991: Eerie intro, and great beat, the subtle sub bass worked really well, again, a nice shuffly beat. Kept the melody in the background quite well and created a dark atmospheric track. Alnitak_Kid: Liked how you used the audience as the intro, SWEEEEET drums when they kicked in. Loved the beat, did you use a straight drum break or programme/tap it out?. Nice use of the piano too and that swirling guitar? sound was cool. Cool use of the audience again at the end. Ellaguru: Great upbeat energetic feel. The quick stabs really pushed the rhythm forward. Really liked the bass line you got going on too. The mid section part was a little crazy, kinda glitchy. Swirling out of control part towards the end was crazy and felt like that could have been an outro. FreshSerfPro: Smooth, chilled vibe. The swells at the beginning worked well in creating a cool mood. SWEEEEET!! bass line. Gave it an even smoother vibe. Loved the twinkly echoey background ambience, really created great atmosphere. Teewok: Loved how the drums came in, booming, sweet drum sound. Liked how you used the samples too, great job. Great use of the bass line. Chopped the samples real sweet. The real subtle tambourine sounds were a nice touch, only just about heard them. Was a touch one this round, really enjoyed every beat. Voting for Fresh Serf. Perfect balance of beat and ambience. |

Thanks for the votes guys. Will try and get something up in the next couple of days, dont have anything at the moment I can think of and I wasn't looking forward to ever winning a battle because I can never find samples to use anyway but I'll get looking tonight. Thanks |
