here's a quick flip. I decided to use this as an exercise for figuring out how to make the most out of a single loop. I recorded a single loop to sequencer with 224 and then dubbed single shots over it. from there, after the track was done, i made blind edits over the track without listening to them. the result gave me a bunch of new ideas. at any rate, let me know what you think

Thanks for the feedback- It was a helpful exercise that gave me a few ideas and techniques...to me it didn't hold together as a track or really build momentum which is something that i'd usually do with complimentary sounds, etc. I look forward to seeing what you all come up with! |

http://www.mediafire.com/?73ar1d0l5788b9y there it is. i cant really seem to find a way to make use of the fx in a way that works for me. they all sound so cool but when i comes time to use them in the track i just get overwhelmed.. ah whatcha gonna do ![]() |

@hseiken if repairing the jack isn't very expensive and if this is the only problem then the price is cheap; anyway, check the pads, the edit1/2, the rec, play/stop(song section) record/resample/grade/pad assign(sampling section) and load/save/internal/card (backup section) copy/delete too and PAD SOURCE (obviously)...check the whole thing! those i suggested are the most important, but if you can explore it go ahead. does it comes also with a smartmedia and acdc adapter? |

lodger wrote: nice one eg! the structure of your tracks always captures my interest- far from formula. good stuff! Hey man that's a nice compliment! I'm interested in structuring the song...i have to say that before those battles i've never used the ST224 like this: now i use its patterns like some sort place to write a structure of a song...what i like the most is to think of a pattern as the continuation of the one before and sometimes also just write some beginning of it just to use it to improvuse with the other; in fact i still don't use the Playlist mode but only the Pattern mode with the "+" "-" buttons and the i "walk" in time (i try eheh) beteween the "main one" the "chorus"(or choruses) and some naked/minimal patterns (the ones i said, to improvise some breaks or chops)...i don't know if the process is clear, but my english is so damnly limited... Btw thanks again and you made a nice sounding one too! Ot (I also wrote abkut thkse battles on the almost dead st224 yahoo group to see if this could cause some return to life... ![]() |

Rich, nice track overall- nice variations. my only recommendations are to layer your drums up/ compress to help them stand out in the mix and explore ways of ending tracks other than abruptly cutting out. the big issue with lower sample rates is that they are straight up transient destroyers which can take the attack out of a sound and leave it feeling mushy. one thing i like to do with my drums is layer the same drum sound pitched up a good ways, but mixed pretty low. it lets you be lofi, etc but still keep the punchiness |
