keen to have a crack at this but what r the rules/limitations? one sp machine only? not using any daw/software seems a given but am i able to slow/pitch the sample prior to playing around with it in an sp?

@providloe:
The spirit of these battles is to do everything in your SP. So no external pitching etc. Keep it to the one SP if you've got a team of them too. As C△MERA said, outside percussion (ie- drums) is OK but don't use any other samples. If it's not mentioned in the rules, count it out. So if/when you sample other drums, make sure they're solo drums. Make the synths your own lines too, not sampled from elsewhere. That way we're all on an even field.

^even though in a DAW vs SP battle we all know the SP's gonna smoke the comp.

That first sample is dangerous! Yet the second is mad funky. Really digging them.

True story! That Shadow song, indeed! 8)

Damn these are some fun samples to work on! Great choices, Cam! Gonna try avoiding any outside drums & synths for this battle, everything I could ask for is in the source.

Couldn't combine the two, so I took the drums of the second sample, added a bassline (Alesis Micron for whoever is intrested) and messed around with some effects. I've sampled and arranged everything on the SP and only did some compressing and EQ in FL Studio. If that's allowed..

What's this one SP only rule?!? damn...killin me! I always run the 303 and the 555. they're a team, like the Avengers or something. 555 is the Hulk and 303 is everybody else 8)

Using 2 devices and “bouncing beats” should not be allowed, unless the rules tells otherwise. Make you your beat in one machine. That’s the challenge. When exporting/recording your final “product” you are allowed to add eq or compression if you like or need to. Personally I like the “keep it in the box” rule. Its great to sit in the library or something, with your SP, knowing that people around the world struggle with the same limitations/problems. But making dope beats. :)
