First to vote in the new poll ![]() I notice the "new" sound from 404sx users. Less lo-fi/resampling flips. More clean sounding... Am I right? Better polyphony and faster processor. Big difference! YES I have an old 404. You dont have to ask. Right now I like my old 404 ![]() My favourites this battle Teewok and Asha C. Teewok... almost to good. Asha C interesting meditative (or simply drives you mad?) I vote Asha. Nice beats from all of you! I (dont want to) remember my first battles! ![]() |

God dammit, I wrote a review for each individual track and then my browser crashed and I lost it. Let me sum up my thoughts then. Lot of dope submissions in this. I definitely noticed a resurgance of cleaner (less lo-fi) recordings. I think thats dope. My favorites were: AGE, SelenteSlapz, Commercial, Asha C. I'm voting Commercial for the following reasons: Dope ass drums, bangin drum programming w/ dope effects. Dope chops/ melodies. Dope SOUND (like it just sounds lo-fi in the right way) And it's just got that aggressive feel I like. IM READY FOR THE NEXT BATTLE PLZ |

What a battle!! Not a bad beat in the bunch! I vote SelenteSlapz. THOSE KEYS!! Silver and bronze to Teewok and gis_sweden. Good to hear some new voices in the battlefield. As some of you may know, I've been working on an SP fam collaborative album. If you donate a beat, I'll do my best to rock it well. Collabs with Theboydevoye, Skinny B, and Teewok are up @ http://soundcloud.com/chopperman |

Teewok's - In or Out. First beat battle submission I listened to outside of judging purely because this song was stuck in my head. |

Teewok- AWESOME, really clean production and the vocal sample is just beautiful. This is pretty much like a straight remix of Frou Frou. Really enjoyed it, drums were so crisp. The part towards the end seemed kind of randomly put it in though. Padar-Crazy warpy lofi sound. Wasn't overly keen at first but when the beat came in I really liked it. Nice use of the piano sample. At the end I felt left like I wanted more, maybe more variation. GIS- Loved the ethereal intro and the bit crushed percussive sounds that were subtley there in the background. Loved how you used the main bass notes too. The subtle, background vocal worked really well too. Nice touch. Real atmospheric track. Would have been really cool if it kicked in somewhere in the middle maybe. Chopperman- Great intro, loved the drum sounds. Had that chopperman sound to it all round. Can really imagine you adding your vocal style to this too. Really liked the vocal stutters, reminded me of a fourtet track. Excellent work, didn't really appreciate the use of the DJFX looper on the track and it would have been fine without it. Nocyusari- Nice intro, the echo build worked really well. Was a pleasant, unexpected turn that it went all ambient, I was expecting some hip hop styles after that intro but I was both surprised and charmed by the direction you took. Really enjoyed the down tempo drums too. Playboy smooth- Loved the percussion sounds at the start and the vocals came in really cool, nice use of the looper effect. Not too overbearing as it can often become. Lazerbear- SWEEEEET lofi sound from the start. Great use of the reversed vocal sample. Love dthe kick sound too. MAAAN AMAZING CHANGEUP at 00:41. Loved how you managed to incorporate a load of genres in this track. I think I would have preferred if the drums had of kept the half time kick snare beat for the whole of the second part, but thats just personal preference. Loved the rolls (from what drum i couldn't decipher). Neiro JDC- Awesome intro. Loved the bassline and the beat you had going on. Real hypnotic. Nice use of the piano and vocal sample from the Richard bona track. AGE- SWEEET lofi from the get go. Loved the drums and the swirly sounds going on. Great use of the DJFX and filter too. Always a fan of backward vocals too. Timmy toga- Again another lofi beauty. Great glitchy out of sync, shuffly beats. A few of the piano sounds sounded a little random at times. Great sidechaining/ducking effect. good work from working within the box. Selente slapz- Again, another with a real nice shuffly beat going on. Liked the tremolo?/phaser effect. I love how you get that shuffly beat, try as I might I just haven't got the groove for that styleeeey. Andrethebaygiant- SWEEET HISS.... Love how you used that vocal sample and got your own melody. Drums sounded great too, like a real kit, was that a sample to or you create the beat? Digging the bass line too. Had a really cool 'live band' sound. Grandpakyre- Cool swirly intro, excellent drum sound too, great rim shot sound. Deep bass line was a nice touch too. Great vocal stabs at about 00:58. Enojyed the subtle bpm/djfx too. Had a frantic vibe going on, really create some tension. Voted for teewok, really enjoyed listening to all of them though Commercial- Another great lofi sounded track. Nice glitches with the DJFX, timing on those was great.Enjoyed the sinister/dischordant vibe it took on about 1:00 into it. |

That roll sound was me tapping my fingers on the SP with the internal mic turned way up. |

WOW!!! SelenteSlapz wins on his FIRST ENTRY!! Props man!! Also props to Asha C for the play-by-play. It made me smile to read "that chopperman sound" and you were absolutely right about my DJFX being unnecessary. It was sloppy and I applaud you for calling me on my bullshit. No word from SelenteSlapz on the voting thread, hopefully he's paying attention.

I appreciate those who voted for me! I just have to say there were a lot of dope flips and I enjoyed a lot of em. I personally liked playboys the best and voted for him. Sorry about not getting on the forums sooner, I have been moving all last week and today. This morning I personally dug out of my record collection two samples to work with and will be posting the next battle within the next couple of days, so get ready to flip some heat. Again thans so much for voting and I can't wait to hear the new flips. peace |
