family drama! haha naa kidding kidding. :wink: i was curious for adambmbs beat too, although he was the one that did say to put the pole up at midnight..hopefully he still posts it up on his soundcloud cus all of his shit is too dope!

when it came down to it i was stuck between stupidgurner and Teewok, went with stupidgurner! great job guys. :o

gis_sweden: you've pretty much nailed the right way to do ambience. SP ambience or otherwise. Felt like the intro to something massive. Good way to kick off the battle!
Stupidgurner: some nice DJ Shadow-esque drum chops & rolls. Well done dragging out that drone too. Hearing the way you worked the synth arpeggio bit first is gonna make things difficult for the others. The transitions into the piano & drone parts was dope too. Have you read into much music theory on transitioning between ideas?
James Frank: OK I gotta call you out here, you signed up more than 2 years before joining the battles? :lol: Must've needed a lot of SP practice! Not a bad track, dug the change up at the end. Felt a little 'small' compared to other beats though. May've been how you recorded this one. Saw you posting in the MPC battles too. Nice, pity the samples for the last 2 battles there have been boss-level hard.
TepaphoneSP: Ahh, first 404 FX flip. Not as FX intense as I expected though. Great tempo & compression job. Could've used a bit more variety though.
Asha C: First thought, quietly recorded. Turned it up & caught the extra samples you added. Wow... That woman's voice in the first half of the track... Amazing, gave it a subtle shoegazer vibe. The way the noises start to cloud out the preacher are dope too. Sounds like you're getting more comfortable on the 404. Real contender for my vote.
Caio_Low: Hahahaha! Nice work, didn't see the reggae skank coming. Dope break too. Not normally a big fan of gated chops but you made me smile & bounce with this one. Some of the notes from the source you grabbed were straight up art too. Really impressive, are you new to the SP?
RunRun Raw: Lo-fi gnarly. Can't get enough of the synths you played in this one. Such funk can't go un-noticed. Those drums too, diiiirty. When're you gonna drop a beat tape?
Teewok: How the hell did you come up with that messy/tight drum pattern? Nice the subtle way the pitch drops with some of your chops gave it a weird gloom edge. For a bright & major key sample this was a great touch.
Chopperman: Nice to hear you rap, dude. You're an Anticon fan right? Thanks for rapping without ego. The sample took a back seat here for good reason, getting complex on this one would've detracted from your words. Last 4 lines of the track is real talk.
Dim_XL: Some nice bits like the bit-crushed pitch changes. Like gis' track this one feels like it should be part of something larger. Particularly with an end like that one.
Self Taught Astronaut: Scratches! Nice! Haven't heard them in a battle here. Good drums but the source sample was totally lost as the background loop.
Grandpakyre: Surprisingly similar angle to Self Taught with those little voice grabs (they from MM... Food?) & that main loop. Nice, but could use some more variety.
Spacetrip: Nice piano chops, rearranging the melody. Drums were a bit weak sounding but OK. Basic flip but with a little extra work this could be great.
S E R D: 20 seconds? That all? The a capella in the background could've been louder. Wanted to hear more of how you matched the beat to the rap, what you made could've been so much more than this.

OK so I pretty much lost track of what & who I was listening to towards the end. Hope I didn't mix up any comments on tracks. Tried to make sure it all lined up, sorry if I commented wrongly. 14 beats (minus mine) are a lot to take in at once!

Hard battle to vote for. Many of the tracks struck me as being equally good without really going next-level (my ears prob got tired). Settled on Asha C because for sticking close to the theme (theorising about God) & adding new ways to hear the old sample (adding the woman singing behind the core sample). VERY close 2nd to Caio_Low & RunRun_Raw. Pity Admbmb was slow off the mark for this battle.

haha lol indeed.. if you look at the battle topic you can see that ADMBMB didnt finish his beat or he wasnt satisfied and he ask me 2 start the poll..

haha, yeah- i forgot that i even had an account on here, i originally made it for troubleshooting the broken SP-303 i still have to use...

but these things used to be intimidating to me- i never understood how it worked, i thought you had to call someone out and go head to head with them like it was 8 Mile or something lol.

Tough to vote but I'm going with Runrun Raw. You Raw brothers are consistent with the dope beats and great images to go with them!

I've been a fan of Sage Francis for years but haven't heard all that much from Anticon. Just tuned into Odd Nosdam Radio on Pandora and so far I like what I hear. Thanks!

Runrun Raw is a brother that thinks i dont know him.

At 9 o-clock inda mornin(me-still-at-home-not-busy) he made the poll, the night before i told him: Dont start the poll on your own , because i want to see how it works - he said OK.
and if you wanted to do me a favor , why didn't you call me in the first place to ''HELP ME OUT'', but you didn't -because you knew i would say NO!!!! just like the day before.So... why did he did???

That leaves us with 2 options:
A He was tired waiting - (he was asking me a couple days for the poll-because he wanted a new battle/sample) :roll: PATIENCE
