Post subject:  next time

I just re-read the rules and believe I am disqualified.

I multi-tracked. Meaning I had my song done in the SP-606, but when I recorded I did 2 sweeps. meaning via MIDI from Pro Tools I tracked the drums (tracks 1+2 on the SP), then did another recording of the sample (tracks 3+4 on the SP). This allowed me to tweak more fx than if it was all coming out at once in one sweep.

My bad for not reading carefully enough- I'm interpreting the rules to mean STRAIGHT off the SP onto a two-track (stereo) one recording- this would put contestants on a equal field with those who didn't have a medium with a midi interface (ya'll should cop one!). Am I right (wrong)

Anywho- I had fun, and will definitely be voting as I listened to them all!
Next time!

I'm going to have to bail this time, because I won't be home in time to finish my beat. Will be finishing my beat later perhaps.

Yeah, I give up. But I'll have those for you soon Juxt, I've just been working on little things on my car to make it drive better. I was going to have to buy a new exhaust system but I went to my friends shop and the guy next door at the VW spot is really good at welding so he just welded my broken muffler and renforced it for a couple of cigarettes and a bowl of some purple. But I'm happy since I can buy parts at cost from my friend's boss who's really chill and my friend puts it on for free if it's easy to him or just a little cash for something harder.

i had some samples routed through the phaser, but with Send Mode on so that i could the sounds wet/dry when necessary

i've attached the list i made as i created the beat, of how the patterns go together. the final copy is on the right hand side
5,7,8,6,2 are 2 bar loops, the rest are 4 bar loops
i recommend using the Pattern Copy function to replicate loops and build variations. have a groove using your slices in rehearsal mode to find the good combos, then record it in (i avoid quantize for chops)

hope that helps man, let me know if you got more questions

only just got a chance to download this, and it sounds dope as fuck man. i really like the contrasting rhythms. the drums are sick, and that flanging is nasty

I know you wasnt askin me but what do you mean dynamics? are you talkin about restoring dynamics lost from fx like compression, heavy reverb, distortion, ect
are you talking about loops or single hits?
