Kwwundii - goes in 1st with a love note to self and slaps us around with another top notch flip. That piano track was the titty milk

MITS - read above. Every1’s talking bout U. It’s a ‘battle’ so I get your point.
Loved the sound. HEY YOU GUYS between it all was perfect. I was laughing the whole time +1 vote

Yen - r00kie of the year award for a brand new start with the 404og. You’ve been studying the manual. The drum shuffle placement on the 2nd track *_* fully committing to participate

DT - needed 6 secs of a sample and a drum resample to Spider-Man flip out that 1

KUD0S - u r dead meat. Me and flits0 are getting for real tired of your loafing shenanigans. No more free sample packs for u. Pay us what you owe us or pay the price

Chopper - feeling your vibe amigo. Bop er ram to kid mode. Thx for the reminder. Being grown up is like a kid stuck in a body in need of a lobotomy, facelifts and scissor kicks. Drunk chicks doing dead lifts. Let’s collab

Marco - with the SP warmup. welcome back. hope you ‘compete’ more going forward

R0R - I’m crying. I looped 4- 14 secs. For 2 mins. What to fck did you layer under that? Is that just a bass? Your shiny 202 is so cute

Forfashire - this is smooth ] this track needs chopperman on it. Was waiting for the DMX verse to drop at the end

DUSK - broke all the records and flipped every bit of the mix. ADMIN ADMIN let this fella IN. that last track !!

NUMB LEN - 1:18 fck yeah fck yeah shameless promo for new album? Or leak?
Can’t wait for it. Ur mix is some of the best I’ve heard. What’s your secret? Is it the P6?

Officer - metal riff’s to soul to synther dog nut. Return of the law.
+1 vote

FE - cookies approved on the 1st track.
Was my fav. Saved it in the spank bank
Cookies approved on the 2nd track.
YOU BETTER PROVIDE A SAMPLE PACK THIS TIME.

Really enjoyed the entries for this. Had to go with kwun that shit had me stank face all the way through, and ¥ for the 2nd. But was tough all around, fam and sleep with the lens answering machine style always Lovin that sound and the mix too. Sleep on point with the sound. UNC has a very familiar style....can't quite out my finger on it, eh? And that MITs comments make no sense at all. These entries didn't reflect anything he had to say and all the entries were extremely well produced and thought out especially the beat tape styles. He says his entry was a "joke" and it definitely showed.

bwahaha MITS this was the best you ever sounded! ngl.

For those with a hearing range of 1000 - 20000 khz, I don't doubt it.

I listened to the whole thing. cheeky title, almost asshole like but FR the grit and transitions were hilarious

It's a book from the turn of the century. Mr T is in it. The title was very apt, I thought. My tongue was, however, very firmly placed in cheek. Obviously. Just as it was when I made the darn thing.

Your other stuff was so ... how you say.. kinda like when dj shadow changed his gear choice to software.

Well, who can compare to the master at his early peak? A comparison to his down-slope, I'll take. Thanks!

obviously I can tell you're new at this style, so I won't speak on arrangement..~NOT veryyy geniusss BUT im soo glad you stopped using the MS1/sp in high quality sample mode. <3

I don't use the MS-1 or 303 in high quality mode. I always sample Standard or below with the MS-1 and always Long on the 303. I just *don't* unnecessarily and pretentiously nuke everything to make it sound lo-fi when it doesn't need to. Like I said, you have to actually TRY to make even the 202 sound like that. I refer you to the beat I posted that was made on one. But if you're trying to do a whole set on one and time is precious, sure. But to make something that sounds objectively bad on a hi-fi machine with no real limits on sample time, 303 & 404 etc, strikes me as a bizarre artistic choice.

it’s like you were anxious or overly serious in the previous battles. This entry was hilarious.

I do usually try to make something that moves me, yes. That's my style, sir. Unrelenting noise just doesn't get my rocks off. What can I say?

Glad it tickled you. It certainly did me! I had a veritable LOLocaust making it.

If it weren't for the lame title I wouldve thought " wow, this guy is trying to do some silly shit and develop and flip something out of his realm" OBViously genius sh!t /s with an entire troll participation award going to your smooth, moisturized hands

One should always moisturise. You'll regret it later in life if you don't.

WAS really hoping to hear you tune those samples using your lofi beast king 303 with the pitch mod... alas. I didn't hear it. I actually tuned all the samples up so they were faster for you to embrace that non-stock SP feature on on your new knob
Did you use it?! couldn't tell..

Only on the drums. I literally just looped a bar or two of the samples as they were, resampled them in a row onto one pad (my first ever time using the resample method as opposed to the sequencer!!!) and nuked it with about 5 passes of the lo-fi effect. The drums were sampled to play back at 3 different speeds using the pitch mod. These were then played at random over the top, using universal Vinyl Sim with comp and flutter at MAX. And BOOM, a microwave classic was fresh out the oven!

Sorry to disappoint but the mod doesn't make the 303 a lo-fi beast, due to that machine's magic sample interpolation method and 44.1khz playback. You have to work hard to get it to sound grimey...refer to my words above.

also, COOKIES?! u use soundcloud. go clear your cookies and get a VPN ya dork!

I'm in the UK and we have the GDPR which means when you go to a website it has to get permission to use cookies. Some sites aren't so bad, as you can press one button for 'Reject All'... but cheapey sites like the ones they used, unless you want to be dataraped, you have to go through long lists and either tick or untick a load of boxes, and even then the language is ambiguous. Twas a shame as, if I recall, I have really liked some of Maxwell House's tunes before and it's even possible that he's one of the few that doesn't push the lo-fi nuclear button, I don't remember. Maybe I'll get tickin' and go back and lis'n...

Sorry if I offended anyone. Like I said, there's some good tunes there sometimes...it's just the noise obscures. But fashion be fashion...

PS - Does anyone know if the 'HEY YOU GUYS!!!' was Rosie O'Donnell? Specifically from the absolute CLASSIC Riding The Bus With My Sister?

for your information it's 200-12000 Hz, thank you very much

I thought I was being uncharacteristically hi-fi this time'round, I only touched the lofi button once and I didn't purposely push the compressor into clipping like usual

bingo orrr ding! Dong? hey you guyssss is from the tv show. I found it in my tool shed of classic TV themes/openers. again - nice usage
What are you using for playback with these 'battles' ? and what do you expect from a shitty doo wop recording from the 70's? also - the voice notes were from a leaked apple vnotes app that happened back in 2015. (Thanks for those SLF TAPES <3)

thanks for answering my q about the pitch knob usage. I was looking forward to hearing it on the samples. Maybe just maybe, if you dont troll us on the next battle, apply it and it will be more apparent. im truly curious

as for nuking fidelity. ..theres a case of 202's having a small capacity for samples. p6 too<-. ms1 ..like 30 secs of 2 channel right? You know this. one could say the SP culture is to nuke your sounds unless youre constantly bouncing out to other gear. with no/minimal rules, theres no excuse not to, so i get your point.
Maybe make a post stating how you get such fidelity while saving space. teach the kids? Be an example of what you want to hear. Provide the knowledge. Nephew gave you some pretty hi quality samples to work with

SP culture really started with the 404 tho, amirite? Where there are no real limits on sample time and yet the lo-fi sound became de rigueur.

As I keep saying, the 303 is super clean. No bouncing out is necessary. Plenty of sample time on Banks C & D. I always use the sequencer (unless I'm doing the LOLZ). Only limitation I have sometimes threatened to hit against is the number of pads and sometimes the polyphony but I usually gets away with it with a bit of jiggery pokery.

Mod stuff I'll post on mod page...
