resample these noises from a program like ableton into the 404.
That will get you started, or you could sample the synth sounds from someone like vangelis.

I sample vinyl into the 404 and make a beat out of it then either record the whole beat to cassette "live" adding effects as I go (usually if I use the resample method), or I record 4 bar loops to casstte (which usually works best if you made a beat in the sequencer) and then record the loops back in and make a beat out of that. I dont have a synth yet but when I get a hold of one I'm planning on making a beat and then recording just the synth to the cassette then bringing it back into the 404 and adding the two in the pattern sequencer.

This is what's wrong with young producers today. Don't turn to the internet to find your samples. Work a job you hate till u have enough money to buy a turntable and start learning about collecting good records. Spend 5+ years learning and digging for breaks and samples, then once you have look for the litttle "lo fi" button on your sampler. Press record, lo fi and sample your sample. From the record. Boom. Don't shit on the art of digging for beats by searching for a short cut. People spent their whole damn lives making shit from scratch. U don't buy a piano and download the ability to play the shit out of it. Learn your craft dude. The 303's lo fi is where its at. The 404s lo fi is nicee if u usee it and resample w an eq effect to cool off some of ttthe high end. And don't trip on my typing my phone keypad is fuckeed up.
I hope tthe advice heeelps. Sorry if I come across bittter, but I am very diy. Its how thee integrity of the art will survive and its dying out

peeps dont got the time no more to learn old school shit, and becoming a serious crate digger isnt something you decide to become over night, I know there is the best shit hidden away on wax you cant find on the internet. but honestly digging is detrimental, you gotta spend all this cash on rare records, then you gotta clean them and sort them and take care of them and blah blah, when you can find 80-90% percent of that shit online, its the rare re releases and versions, rare covers that you find, the little gold nuggets you would never find online, i have had equal success digging, online and in the crates. and i would say digging online is healthier, my parents just threw out one of my collections, 3000+ bossa nova, jazz and classical records, i tripped out for a minute, but then realized how awfull that collection actually was, its just the few gold nuggets that i never found yet that was painful letting it go. anyway, i had shit on wax you could never find online, and the internet gots shit I would never find, its just the encoding and shit that messes up your dig, but chill and reproduce your audio and make some heat.

asking for samples is like asking for your beat to be handed to you on a silver platter. type songs you like into youtube and sample it, resample with effects and push that lofi button. go to goodwill and buy some old soul or jazz records, sample it and tweak it lofi button again. people put hard work into creating "perfect lofi samples" it doesnt just happen. make something you can be proud of and find/ make your own samples.
