Guys - if I want to sync 2 samplers.. can I do it over midi to ensure the loops are perfect? Thinking of a SP-555 and a SP-404. Has anyone done this? Also - I cant find any info on V-Link.. anyone ever use it? |

because the SPs you mention only have midi in ports you will not be able to synchronise them.. you would need one in and one out. If you had a 3rd device capable of running as a master clock with a midi out port and a Ysplit cable so that you could plug both SPs into it you could sync them. |

Thx for the reply. So 2 sp-555s will do the trick? Will there be a lag though? And I'm wondering if I could sync both the loop captures? |

First things first: the SP-555 does have MIDI out. So, yes, you can sync a SP-404 with a SP-555. How useful it will be is a different matter, are you thinking of using this to sync the pattern sequencers or what? Loop Capture has nothing to do with MIDI, only way I can think of to actually sync it would involve a MIDI controller/sequencer capable of sending open/closed footswitch like stuff (forgot the right terminology for this) - something like the Roland FC-300 amp control function. I'm sure there's stuff that does that out there but I can't remember anything right now, old school drum machines probably have some kind of "trigger out" for this stuff. I've only tried to use V-Link to control softsynths and stuff, so far not so good - but I'm pretty sure it works fine for VJ stuff. |
