i got a 55 and the tascam dp02 8track. someone a while ago told me that i could use my 555 as an effects box with the aux send and eturns. i hooked it all up and applied effects to a recorded track in my multitracker. the thing about it is i could hear the effects that i applied through the send return but i could also hear the track without affects on it at the same time, like the send/return didnt fully process the sound. as if i only had the send and return up halfway. anyone know how to do this or if im using the wrong cables or something. im just using rca cables. maybe instrument cables? ive done send and returns before with a mixer plugged to a compressor but i used instrument cables. and the tascams send and returns only use the big headphone piece(i dontknow the size, just not the regular headphone plug, the bigger one) would be nice to bounce tracks again and again with effects on em. help a brotha out! |

If I got it right you're using the regular output (RCA) instead of the send (1/4"). I actually downloaded the manual and from what I understand the Send jack is Mono, so you need a 1/4 to RCA Mono Cable and then another pair of those for going back to the DP-02's Return jacks (if you want stereo effects, that is). By using the regular output and going back into the input you're creating some sort of feedback loop, some strange, unusual, interesting and *dangerous* things (volume spikes!!!) can happen when doing that. |

ok so if im to understand you, i have to use 1/4 inch plug. right now i have the 1/4 inch y connector to add to my rca cables. am i to understand that there are mono rca cables that are different from the regular red and white cables or are they the same. and if im using a mono 1/4 plug, it should have 1 ring instead of 2 (for stereo) that makes sense. ill look some things up, thanks for pulling the manual and all that. ill get to work. |
