So after using the sp-555 for many live performances, its time to record something. I want to be able to record my sp-555, turntables and mic all which are typically plugged into the sp-555. I also have a bass player that I jam with so I will need to record him too. After my previous post it doesn't seem like the sp-555 will do the job all on its own if I want to overdub, etc... With all this said, what does everybody else do to record and what kind of options should I be looking into? Right now there is an mbox1 for 90 bucks or a vxpanded roland vs-880 for 150. Those are the two items I am able to acquire, but I'm open to suggestions. Im looking for something one the more portable ie. not a pci soundcard for my pc. Thanks.

if i were you id shy away from the mbox. i was in philly for thanksgiving and got a chance to rock out in someone elses studio for a change. he had a mbox and protools. im a cubase user and i know my way around it very well so when i played with protools it was like " why i gotta do all this just to do something that takes 2 clicks in cubase" its industry standard but not user friendly. and i think the mbox only works with protools software, i could be wrong tho but i tried to run it to cubase since i got fed up with protools and cubase didnt recognize the mbox. your cheapest bet is to just get a audio interface that works usb and get some free software or steal it, "hell, ill email you cubase if you need it" then you can play live and record it without having to spend a bunch of money on hardware unless you like hardware. but the mbox was definitly a pain in the arse, for me!

my interface is rather shitty, it works, but still i cant recommend it. the dudes at guitar center should be able to find exactly what you need if you tell em your gear setup. i wish i knew more about interfaces, but i havent shopped around for one in a few years.
