Hey guys, long time lurker... So, here's an annoying thing that's happening from time to time with my SP-555: all (or most of) the pads/buttons flash. It doesn't affect the sound or overall behaviour of the SP-555 but it is kinda strange. Is this "normal"? Online support said it could be just like power spikes (for the lack of a better term) but suggested that I should send my unit to the local support just to be sure. Mind you I had an SP-404 before and a faulty Dane-Elec 1Gb card and strange things happened, but everytime the LEDs flashed the sound would dropout too and I'm using Sandisk 2Gb cards with the SP-555 which have been working fine from the beggining. |

hmmm power spike sounds right are you using a 3-->2 prong converter? if so... DONT get a surge protector bar/power bar thingy if you dont have one already... if those arent the problems... are you connecting a record player to it at all times? is it grounded on the 555 or on another mixer? is the record player connected into a 3--->2 prong converter? |

Thanks hurlingdervish, ahnm... Usually I was plugging into an UPS (which should provide a decent amount of protection against this sort of thing) and occasionally directly into the wall socket. The UPS has that 3 prong connector, while the wall socket is of the regular 2 prong kind. I'm using the PSB-1U adapter. I'm thinking about buying one of those rack power conditioners but I'm a bit puzzled 'cause they seem to do the same work that an UPS would give or take a few things. That and the fact that it would be a bit of an overkill. |

I'm using the PSB-1U adapter. even with the protector this could be the issue. some hardware is known to fry when people do this and some people have actually be electrocuted and killed because of lifting the ground... ![]() ![]() see if you can run an extension cord a 3 prong if you have any |

There's no proper ground/earth around these parts, so the "extra" prong is totally useless apparently. Anyway, I think I'm gonna have to get it checked. Hey hurlingdervish, how's your ear? Laserface: I like my SP, but I don't love it that much! Hehe... |

So, my SP-555 is back. Little chill down the spine when I turned it on and, right after the "light show", Err shows up on the screen (IIRC same thing happened when I used it for the first time). I guess that's what happens after internal memory initialization. (?) Everything is fine according to the tech from the service center and apparently it is. Haven't been able to check if the leds are still flashing but will do later in the day. Ah, well... It's back... Gotta do some stuff with it. *Edit/Update* Leds still behave strange, but is not as clear or as often as before. Go figure. |
