What up everyone. Haven't posted on here in a while. But, yeah as you can see from the title I was hoping someone could help me with some info on the padkontrol. I just wanted to know if anyone here has their 555 hooked up to a padkontrol or if you can even do that (without hooking it up to a laptop). The reason for this is because my 555's pads have turned to crap and I have to practically do a stone cold stunner on each pad just to get sound out of em  . And I know they're probably replaceable, but I've been wanting a midi controller for a while now anyway and I'm probably gonna use the PK for something like ableton too. So it's a plus if I can get it to work with my 555.

Anyways, yeah I've searched the index for padkontrol but I only found random stuff about it... nothing that REALLY helped me out. So, if anyone's got any info on this at all I'd really appreciate it. I don't really see how the PK would work without a laptop because wouldn't you need to set up everything from a CPU? Or how would you set it up from the 555? Is there a menu on there that would help you match everything to the PK? See, I don't get it at all! I'm new to midi controllers and whatnot.
Haha well yeah. hopefully you guys can help me out. Thanks a bunch.

(PS if you DO have info, can you please leave detailed instructions on how to do this, because I really want to know and understand how it works)

i can only speak from experience with the trigger finger BUT

you should be able to control the 555 easily without a computer IF the PK has a power supply port thingy. if it is only usb powered than you need a computer. the TF has both and can be used as just another piece of hardware.

you may have to create a template on the computer for the PK to be edited enough to match the 555's midi signals. But judging from all those buttons on the side of the PK you might be able to do it without a computer entirely (the trigger finger can, though its a bit tedious).

i cant remember the actual midi notes, i think its in the manual but the 555 uses a few octaves to control 5 banks, then the same notes in a different midi channel to control the next set of 5 banks. the channel may be different depending, im not sure, but since my 555 is on midi thru mode the channel changed i think....dont quote me on that. just something to consider.

hope this helped

thanks dervish i really appreciate it man. you're always helpin people out.

So, basically from what I understand these templates that you would set up on a computer, would actually save INTO the PK? And from then on I can just hook up the PK to the 555 and play it like that? Oh and I looked into it and yes, it isn't limited to USB power. A separate adapter can be purchased for it.

Hmmmm... It makes more sense now. It's just that I didn't know MIDI controllers can save...anything...! I literally thought that they were just little pieces of plastic that were useless if not used with a software program.

Lastly, I don't know if this helps but I saw this from the specs of the PK:
# 16 user scene memories
# 30 preloaded scene templates

And again thanks man!

I used to have one and the pads where amazing...(too bad i sold it!)
You should read the manual of the 555 as hurlingdervish said(I have the 606 so i can't help you..) to program the PK...it's not too easy but you can do it yourself!

# 16 user scene memories=
it means that you can have access to 16 padbanks for your 555

# 30 preloaded scene templates=
it means nothing for the 555 since there isn't a "555 tamplate"!
