My friend sold me his for 400 dollars and I just got it with a Paypal credit card. After going back and forth between various SPs for awhile (and owning a 303, 404, and 606) I finally got the one I always dreamed about.

After playing with it for about 6 hours last night, it is the best music gear purchase I think I've ever made. The work flow on it is unbelievable. I sampled a bunch of sounds from Battery and some sequences I made with VST synths (Minimonsta) and rebuilt my beats and created a bunch of new sounds on the machine. The Loop Capture is amazing for resampling patterns. I never thought that the extra features actually made it worth it over the 404 but being able to resample patterns is almost alone worth it. And the effects memory is amazing since I do a ton of live manipulation. The Loop Capture is also going to be amazing to just quickly record my guitar so that I can make loops around it since I don't really want to record loops of my guitar (I like to multitrack the whole guitar track live). Although I might play around with the Amp Simulator.

This may be a pointless post, but I'm just fucking high on life right now. Any tips on where to get started / things to play around with? I can't wait to get off work to start building some new songs up from scratch.

haha glad you like it so much!

yea the looper makes all the difference in the world to me

i dunno what to tell you except that figure out every little thing you can do!

roll function and looper mode has given me some quite amazing results especially with melodic samples.

just play with the different effects overdubbing in the loop capture, i always figure out something new to do.

one of my favorite things to do is to save a bunch of pitchs to the effect memory and warp the fuck out of the sample
try these pitches as they will sound good

Low C C
Low C mid C
Low G mid C
mid C high g
high g high C

then try other chords by putting the balance at 50% so you get the root note of the triad
E, G = Cmaj
D#, G = Cmin
D, G= C9
D#, G# = Cmin6
E, B = Cmaj7
E, A# =C7
D# A#= Cmin7

and obviously the "C" is just relative to whatever sample you pitched

That's a cool idea. Is that using the regular Pitch function or the Chromatic Pitch Effect?
