i had a brain fart last night when i realized that if you use the computer along with your 555 it could be a pretty close substitution for the mv8800... i didnt realize how easy it is to go from computer to box and back and forth... i still dont think its as seamless as working on the mv (or it doesnt really sound as seamless) but as i read more into it it does sound pretty cool... one random question i have is... i did a brief google search on cakewalk and it talks a lot of jargon that is over my head... its somewhat mind numbing for me to read when im just looking to browse and see how it fits me in normal human talk not numbers and features.. so i have the 555 connected to cakewalk... and i play a pattern on my 555... ive seen in screen shots it shows the wavform of that pattern or sample.. is there a way to (using cakewalk) see the individual notes too? like on the mv (from a little messing around in store) there is a way to make a pattern and see blocks for the notes you hit.. if you wanna move a kick over you just click and drag... possible right out the box? i wish the shows would let you demo this ish... its frustrating just hoping for the best and spending 700... |

probably would have a more seamless experience if you just used the computer, and either the 555 or something else as a midi controller. |

they work great together (computer and 555) but not in the ways you would expect it would be hard to explain how its beneficial without just outlining what i do. it is possible however to transmit the midi from the pattern and edit it via computer VERY EASILY so what you want to do is set up a midi track and make sure the usb is connected and select 555 in the MIDI pref's of your program set both the tempos to the same thing then arm the midi to record in cakewalk or whatever and hit the pattern on the beat when the metronome stops (you know how to do this...) then it should record the pattern notes. you can make adjustments in the piano roll...quantize whatever... make a duplication to 32 bars or whatever then back on the 555 get a new pattern ready to record and when the metronome counts in to start recording hit play in the cakewalk program the 555 will record the notes as if being played by you it sounds complex...its not really but its not my cup of tea...if you want to get a computer involved its best to think outside of the box, or deal with audio alone and sample to and fro...making loops etc. good luck. |

^ well i knew that i could read/rec ext. midi datas but export a programmed pattern with a 404... hmm.. how...? my plan was -to use my trigger f to prgram midi sequences in reaper might be getting off topic now... but any tip would be greatly apprenhrn.. you know... so this is how my gear is connected with each other... trigger going to usb to program midi in reaper... works fine but (!) i'm only able to "hear" my 404 if the trigger goes to midi in of the 404... that works too... it just makes no sense; of course i need to rehearse my midi phrase... which is only possible if the sequencer is connected to the 404, right... so what i'm trying to do is to get that midi signal from the tf through my interface into the 404... but it just won't play midi from the tf on the 404... but it syncs from the sequencer perfectly... short: 404 doesn't get midi notes coming from the tf or the sequencer. i know that shit worked couple weeks ago... ![]() hope you get it... my wordpool is limited as ...well.... fuck... ...think this is interface related, right?! |

so the TF goes in but not out? program the pattern on the 404 with the TF then send the midi out into the computers sequencer and it will record the notes but you might not be able to hear the actual hits on play back thats no worry though because you should have a fair idea of whats what...then just mess with the piano roll and set the midi out of your audio interface(if thats what your using?) and back into the 404 and record the pattern at the same time you play the one on the computer hope that helps ps ill get that battle up in a few hours ![]() |

i didnt know the 404 didnt have midi out... anyway you should still be able to do this make a midi track in the program with midi in from TF and out to 404 so when you trigger you hear the 404 then record the pattern in the program, and then once edited record on to the 404 you just gotta get the routing right it will work though if you do that TF---midi track----404 essentially "midi thru" but with a computer |
