Hi everyone I´m looking for a good LIVE-partner for my beloved RS7K. Need more sample time for longer interludes/toplines sampled from old synths/resamples of my own stuff/vx/ etc. For studiowork I´ve got a lot of tools -need something for the stage/road I want something that is: # Fast & Easy to use # Portable, -I travel a lot weight is important. # Lots of sampling time # Tweakable # Quality sound A bonus would be # Good FX´s # Live looper # Option to play full tracks / as a CD-player # Suprises: new ways to compose/work I have been looking at the Spectralis 2 which have amazing sound but reports say it is quite difficult to program. And it is heavy= 9kg So my next target is the SP-555..sequenced from the RS Does anybody use this combo ? Is the sync T I G H T ? ( as in #€%"# TIGHT !!!) Is it fun, easy ? Can you play it like an instrument ? searched and found this: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/RS ... sage/17126 And it looks promising... Any other options ? (no laptops !!!) Rumours of an upgrade / Sp-556 ? Linndrum....hmmm can´t wait anymore RS9K ?? ![]() Thanks in advance H |

1. its fairly fast to use ONCE you read the manual and that jazz 2. its really light 3.you could sample whole songs on to each pad, or for as long as your compact flash card allows 4. its super tweakable, maybe the tweakiest 5. the sound is great especially on the effects 1. the effects are the best I have heard, anywhere, and you can program saved settings with Effect memory and jump between each effect by holding one button and hitting each pad you saved it too. so say you have a song playing, you could jump between delay times, isolator settings (only low, only mid, only high etc), phaser, and more 2. the looper is great, but its not able to save live because you hear the sample back when you save it to a pad. HOWEVER you can erase it instantly. So if you arent worried about keeping things forever with the looper you can do quite a bit 3.again you can have a whole song on each pad if you wish 4.it definitely has its own sound when it comes to building tracks im not sure on the sequencing thing, i have controlled the 555 with a trigger finger, but not a sequencer keep in mind that the midi notes incoming are fixed so you will have to adjust the messages on the RS7K overall you could really like the machine, but you will have to read the manual and all that jazz |

Thank you so much! Just the information I need. Guess I´m on the right track and I´m not afraid of manuals as long as the machine is friendly. Great with the long songs/tracks and the quality of the effects. How is fast loading time if U want to shift every sound on every pad (bank?) ? Does it stream from the card ? ( = no loading time...) 4.it definitely has its own sound when it comes to building tracks How would you describe it ? (yeah I know it is difficult in words...) -ill try to get hands-on.. The RS is very fleksible so the programming should be fine. The live-looper is only for fun and for interludes between songs in the RS. Q: if i trigger the pads/sounds via midi from RS, will I still be able to start the sequencer in the SP-555 when the RS stops ? The SP is not slaved to RS via midiclock, just acting as a standalone sampler with notes triggered by midi Is this scenario possible? A song playing from the RS /the SP is triggered via midi (note on/off) B I stop the RS to switch song --> but trigger a sequence in the SP so there is no interruption in the sound=the SP plays by itself C As soon as the RS is ready, I go back to "A" again ... Anybody else with this combo ? Thanks again and sorry for the long rambling H |

Quote: How is fast loading time if U want to shift every sound on every pad (bank?) ? Unfortunately it takes quite a while if you want to change the samples.. BUT... I dont see why you would need to, with 10 banks of 16 pads available! |
