Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing an SP-555 to use as the 4th member of our band. I have a good range of software tools (Acid Pro 7, Sonar 8 PE, Stylus RMX, Kontakt3 etc) to help me create the backing tracks which I will load into the 555. I anticipate mainly playing back patterns (e.g. chorus, verse) with the odd drum fill and other rhythmic spice.

I'm a little unclear as to the mechanism of loading samples to the Pads (even though I've looked through the manual). Assuming that I can save up to 160 samples onto a card (using a card reader connected to the PC) how do I get them into the 555? Is it one bank at a time or a pad at a time? Hopefully I won't need to load 160 files individually.

Is there any recommended file naming convention so that files can be targeted to specific pads?

Once loaded, will the association between the card's files and the pads remain in flash memory even after power down?

Do the card's files even get loaded into the pads or is it only the file name with playback always streaming from the card?

I've read that the wave file conversion utility is not that reliable as a method for bulk loading. Any particular reason for this?

Thanks in advance for answers. I'm really looking forward to getting the 555.

Regards,
Gyprock
