Post subject: | Is the SP-555 right for me?(description inside) |
I play guitar, keyboard, and sing lead vocals in my band currently, but we are most likely going to split up due to college and what not. I tried buying a loop station to layer guitar/keyboard and vocal parts but had a hard time being able to switch to choruses. With the sp-555 will I be able to layer guitar/keyboard loops live as well as play pre recorded choruses? If so is it as easy as recording something and assigning it to a pad? Any help or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks |

yes, with the proper knowledge (which can be found here) you could record choruses and play them back using the pattern sequencer. the pattern sequencer is quantized when you switch between patterns, kind of like ableton live. so you can trigger the next chorus before the down beat, so you can actually play at the start of the measure. however keep in mind that you'll have to prepare stuff in the patterns if you want a complete sounding song. because after you save a loop the audio stops. but if you get a sustain pedal you can assign different things to it like start loop record then overdub, or start stop last pattern, or even FX on and off. |

There are some videos online I think with people using a SP-555 together with a live band. Have to search, but people do use it like that. From what I understand they don't usually use the loop capture feature in live situations though. With the right preparation it works awesome though. |
