i have an akai s20 and the 555. s20 can do mono triggering like the mpc's right, but is there any way possible that the 555 can?????? will there be a new OS that may be able to have this added? if this can not be done, then that would be the only thing wrong with this. everything else is sick. i got mine the day it came out and i hope there is some way to do this. this is my first post on here. help me if you can. one

This maybe a stupid question but what do you mean by "mono triggering" ?

mono triggering is something the mpc does, even my akai s20 does. its when you trigger one pad and then when you trigger another pad (while the 1st pad is still playing) it will atomaticly play the 2nd pad and stop the 1st pad. now i know how to make chopps that are 16th note, 8th, 4th...witch is sick, but if i could have it do mono triggering i would never need anyother piece of equipment. hopefully they will come out with a new OS and be able to do that. but if there is a way now and i don't know, hopefully some of y'all could help. one

Yeah I use mute groups to do that on the 606. If the 555 doesn't have mute groups it would be harder to do. You could 'fake' it by trimming the samples so they are the right length to 'sound like' they are being cut off.

Not perfect; but will get the right sound. 8)

Yeah, that's not a feature sp samplers really have. Mpc's like you mentioned are far better for this, but there is usually some way to fake it like 606man said. Just put the samples on gate playback and practice your timing.
