it seems the 555 always inserts a strange digital blip when starting a sample over. i've been trying to record in some drones to help layer up some sounds and have yet to figure out how to get rid of this break in the sound. i've tried changing start/end points and can't seem to think of anything else. any recommendations for such a thing? |

i've been disecting songs i've created in cubase (mac) and then feeding them into the 555 vis usb and the loop capture. then bouncing these to the sample pads. even with a pure sine tone that has no variation i still get that little glitch when the sample starts over. any help is much much appreciated. thanks |

If you are using autostart on the loop capture then that is your problem. Its probably better to just record them in using regular sampling. using autostart cuts off the begining of your sample. So u can adjust the start and end points all u want and its probably still gonna make that sound. |

i haven't been using autostart though. have just been using a foot pedal to loop capture in real time. ?? |

hmm..not sure. I know that doesnt happen with mine. Does the same thing happen when u record into the internal bank as the card ? |

do you mean when i transfer loops via a card reader from the computer? if so, i don't have a card reader so everything is done in real time via the loop capture. i've yet to try and load samples straight into a sample bank, and maybe this is where i'm going wrong (i just go the 555 a few days ago and am still feeling things out) some of the stuff i do is very rhythmic, but alot of it is textural and relies on drones that could potentially be seamless. let me try this out and i'll get back to you. thanks for your input, its much appreciated. |

that is also a good idea that might work but thats not what I meant  I meant, have u tried recording the samples to bank a-b and c-j. C-J are card banks... u may get glitches there but not on a-b. if thats the case then it could be a messed up CF card.

ah i see. let me try that out as well. could be it as i just took a card from my old digital camera and reformatted it. thanks for the recommendations, i'll get back with any updates i have. cheers, l |

I also have the same problem even on internal memory. I saw also that after recording the first loop from the mic input, the input is turned off and produce a little pop, not sure about the "line in" but it might be the case as well. Using overdub over a blank "1st take" is a bit better and using the pedal helps also. I just ahve the 555 for one week so perhaps I just need some more practise. |

I would check to see how well the sound loops, whatever sound you have there will be peaks and valleys in the sound frequencies and if you cut the sound and loop it at a peak and valley then there will be a pop or little sound, make sure all your samples are chopped and joined in the middle of the valleys so there won't be a jump in sound. |

No, I'm using the overdub function of the looper, recording layer after layer, I expect to have the same seamless looping as I have on my digitech jamman. Otherwise, if I record a rythmic loop, there is no problem. |

I too have had this problem, and I have yet to fix it. I gave up and decided to record my loops on the computer, and make sure they're seamless, then load them onto my 555. But that pretty much makes the loop capture useless. It's a shame it doesn't loop cleanly. |

The loop-capture function doesn't record directly to compact flash but instead to the internal memory if I'm not mistaken, so CF cards shouldn't matter. Any bleeps or glitches are likely to be caused by bad cables or interfering equipment. It might even be the food pedal switch you are using, did you try using manual loop capturing and so on? Even though I only had the SP-555 for a short while, I really never had this problem with overdubbing and mainly used the loop-capture function without any problems. |
