so i'm streamlining my set-up to prepare to move this summer from a house into a smaller apartment and i got a good deal on a numark X2 hybrid cd/vinyl turntable. so now i'm going to sell my 1200's. I've always used the shure m44-7's and been pretty happy with them, but now that i'm selling them with my 1200's i'm in the market for a replacement for the X2... so my position is this: I don't scratch as much as i used to and mainly use the turntable for listening sampling, but i do still like to get my cut on from time to time. so i'd like something that sounds good, but is still good for scratching. any suggestions/comments? should i just get a new m44-7 or do you guys think there is something better out there for my needs? |

ortofon has a needle/cartridge for just about any situation. if you don't want to scratch but want the best vinyl to digital transfer; they have for that plus so many more. when i had my sl1200 i had both the shure and the dj ortofon. the shure m was great (especially for scratching and bass) but the ortofon had a cleaner sound imo. i think the newer qbert ortofon are probably the best all around stylus you can buy, but damn you will PAY for it($$$). |

yeah, i was looking at those qbert joints today, looks like they have them on amazon for $127 through some place called dependable resources, i checked the store's reviews and they seem to all be positive... there is another seller on amazon N V S that also has positive reviews selling them for $111... it's tempting...that's like $50 or so cheaper than anywhere else... anyone here have experience with them |

The Shure White Labels are supposed to have great sound quality and skratchability. Couldn't say first hand though... http://www.topdjgear.com/shurwhitlabd.html |
