can anyone suggest a decent pair of headphones for under $100 (about). also does any one know anything about that akai xr20? they call it a beat production center but it seems like a hip hop oriented drum machine to me. i was thinking about selling my drum machine and picking one up? |

The XR-20 is really just a drum machine from what I've seen. It would be a nice set of pads and a sequencer to drive your SP though. After your tired of the sounds anyway. As far as headphones I use some cheap ass Sony MDR v150's which are good for the price. The MDR-7502's look like a decent step up and if your looking for really nice check the Sennheiser HD 280 PRO but they're right at your price limit. What kind of drum machine you looking to sell? |

I am about to pick up some AKG K77's in the next week or so. They are $50 most places online. I will let you know how they compare to my $20 Sony's that are currently being held together with duct tape. |

Yo the AKG K77s are the real deal. I am used to either my $20 sonys or a logitech computer speaker system. The AKG's don't color the sound at all, give it to you straight. So far I am really impressed with how they work with the 303!! Plus my girlfriend bought them for me for my birthday! +1up |

I just coped the AKG K99's so I'll be happy to have headphones that don't smash my ears against my glasses and hopefully have a flatter sound than my sony MDRV150's that suck. ![]() |

I've used Audio Technica M40fs or something like that, they are pretty cheap, but pretty great I used the "mixing" headphones from AT as well, and they are so bright I think I should sue them because I swear it was those headphones that gave me tinnitis..I mixed one song on them and felt sick/disoriented for a week or so those other ones yall mentioned sound good, I have a headphone fetish anyway, haha...can never have too many |

I recently copped AKG 171 MKII's which are dope.. They're made for broadcasting and DJ-mixing but y'all know about the booming low-end of the dj-headphones!! They also sound solid all the way up n down and the highs are real pristine/clean. These headphones are made for beatmaking, lol.. btw its been some time since i last visited.. i had to sell my 404 but i came back with the 202 ![]() |

Sennheiser will undoubtedly make something nice in your price range, were you after accuracy or just quality? |

In that price range if you don't need closed headphones I would definitely recommend Grado SR80's above all else. The SR60's are nice as well at a lower price. |
