Very cool looks, but doesn't look like it's solid build. Perhaps the photographs sort of give the wrong impression.

i hear you, but i think this Roland unit will be just as durable as their already popular line of synths, samplers and drum machines!

On a side note I believe they are going after the Pro Tools market with a very cost effective package.

This looks pretty good. How is cakewalk though. I personally have never even seen it let alone use it. I use Pro Tools for all my needs, although their hardware for controlling Pro Tools is out of control in terms of price. But then again you get what you pay for. The plug ins are ridiculous for PT. Price and How they work. I do like what digidesign has been trying to do over the last couple of years, which is have their team create the software to use with PT instead of relying on third party companies. Not sayin that they don't want 3rd parties to be involved, but they figure it is easier for you to go through one resource for all your needs. Anyway thats a different topic. How is Cakewalk?

More like easier for them to control prices!

Sonar 8 looks OK.. .Might give fruityloops a run for its money but I dont think its going to compete (at least in the near future) with the studio mainstays (PT, logic, cubase)

Sonar 8 is more than OK. FL is a great piece to make beats and to automate filters with, but for tracking audio it kind of lacks in that respect. While Sonar is a well equipped tracker and beat machine capable of outputting comercial grade audio.

Anyways i'll be getting the Cakewalk Sonar Vs700 when it comes out. I'll also be investing in a Presonus Studio Live 16.4.2 when it ships!

Let me know what you think of the v700... Not that I will ever give up Pro Tools, but it is nice to know how other things operate...
