I’m starting a new job that will pay me weekly and where I have to commute there’s a pawn shop. Inside they had a used Elektron Model: Sample for $220. Had a power supply, no manual or 3.5” to Midi cable, but that I could order later. Yes, I know it doesn’t sample. Yes, I know it’s a 6 part drum machine. But I can get 300 sounds straight from the box, which sounds good to me. It should compliment my RD6, DR202 & ER-1 mk2/Volca beats just fine.

So, just give me your honest opinions on it. Do you like it’s work flow? Does it have any bugs or issues? Is there sample swapping with some app and a USB cable? It’s a whim purchase, but I only have to drop $40-50 on it for now, and probably pay it all off in July. So just wanted to know if you’re happy with its sounds and features. Thanks!

i think the model:samples is (resuming) in some sort a digitak without sample/resample capacities, it has its great seq, parameters lock and improvisation stuff on it, for a good price i would take it.
ps
some months ago i was looked around a sort of volca sample vs model:sample match, it seems that the volca sample, after the new unofficial pajen firmware, is capable of many new things. Just saying.

Yeah, its like a half a Digitakt. Its really a sample-player than a sampler. Samples have to be imported. Its more stable than a Volca Sample though. Those small pots on the VS can sometimes get in the way and disrupt other samples if not aware.

Other than that, its a doable machine despite its 6 pads, but the M:S merits by its sequencer and parameter locks. Once you got that down, freaky things can be done with the samples. If you know a Volca Sample, this is around the ballpark.

However, for the budget, you can't go wrong with a PO-33KO in a Beatmakers Boutique MPC case. It samples and has a tiny speaker.
