I've only spent about two hours with it, but it seems insanely awesome for freeware. You can use it to run most VSTi's-- one of the ones it comes with is actually really great for pitching samples and mapping them to the keyboard in one step. My major issue with it is that I haven't been able to cut down on the latency to make it usable on my computer... yet. (slower computer+ usb interface= latency) Even if I can't use it as a real DAW so far, it's great for plugging in free or demo VSTi's, then sampling them right into the 555 (:

Also, I remember someone mentioned Goldwave on here awhile back, which has been really useful too. There's a lot of bizzarely powerful freeware out there...

I didn't know that it could do that in one step - could be very useful for working around the lack of chromatic pitching on (most of) the SP series

And, yes, there's an amazing amount of stuff out there; I check up on KVR every couple of weeks to see what's out, and free

i will tell you that reaper is amazing.

ive been using it for a while now (with my crappy soundcard) and it reminds me of something like the JJOS for the MPC series. very frequent updates and user base feedback. the product is real quality.
