i think im going to cop on of these instead of the yamaha QY unit.

for the time being this seems to be the best item to suit my needs.
i just have some really simple questions that i hope somebody with experience with recorders can help me with.

http://www.zikinf.com/_gfx/matos/dyn/la ... 8-mkii.jpg

that is a link to a picture of the unit im talking about.

it has 8 tracks, records to compact flash and looks kind of cool.

now here's my question:

the inputs for A and B are XLR (the 3 pinned inputs??) and unbalanced inputs.

now ive searched and RCA to XLR cables are 30euro!! wheras RCA to 1/4 inputs are only 5euro.

what does unbalanced mean??

can i just plug my sp-404 directly into lets say the unbalanced input on port A and have my turntables going into the unbalanced input on port B? or will i need to buy these XLR input cable things?

thanks, this is really confusing me

unbalanced just means theres no phased out signal going thru the cable. The signal goes through live and therefore creates more noise. Its honestly not a big deal :) unbalanced 1/4" connectors will be fine.

You can get a bigger avatar by hosting them on a different site and then copy the link. For example upload your (bigger) picture to imageshack.us, copy the direct link and paste it in your profile instead of uploading an image on to the sp-forums website directly through that option in your profile settings.

Be sure not to use files that are really big or big in scale though, as they usually won't load very fast. Some here are on slow connections after all... :)
