Post subject:  S 2000 Massive!!!

So my mate gave me a S2000 because he his giving up beats and going to become a able seaman instead, but that's another story. It really made me appreciate the workflow on the sp 303 in terms of chopping and looping, but that's another story.

Was wondering if anyone could help me out, I've sampled sounds, trimmed em, looped em, stretched em but I can't figure out how to put them into either single or multi mode, I can only play them using the sample edit mode. It's driving me crazy hahaha

press multi, page down and there you should be able to select the sample (assign prog) and play it.
hope that helps. and for working with stereo samples you have to do some tricky stuff. i can write it down if you need it.

Cheers for the reply mate, your help is much appreciated. Still not having any luck though.

I boot up the sampler, load my samples from disk, go into multi mode, page down to assign prog, the first one is test program and the rest are blank. How do I actually select my samples? Any thoughts?

yeah man, i forgot you have to make a new program first.
so press single and then edit. now you select name and rename the program. then hit copy. now you press group 6 times. the page is called ZONE1 Assign. here you can select your sample. NOW you can play the sample. you can also go into multi now and select your new program like i wrote before. tell me if you need more help!

Thanks a million, that has done the trick, I'm finally getting the hang of it now. Where do you use the s2000 in your set up? Do you have any of the upgrades?

glad i could help. i don't use it anymore but i keep it because it was my 1st sampler and i think it's worth more than what you can get for it now. i have 32mb (wow!) and the effectboard for it which is pretty good.

Know what you mean about the worth of them, it cost more to post them than they go for on ebay :? It's a shame cos they're really powerful, I think the small screens and the fact they look like stupid grey rectangles put's people off. They don't have the same style as s950 or s3000xl.

i was Always curious by the s950 or the 3000 for the 90s sound (i like many drum and bass tracks done with them at the time)...what's the main differences between them and the s2000? here in france i see people selling the first two for expensive and the s2000 for almost nothing...

i think soundwise the 2000 and 3000 are the same but the 3000 has visible wave editing and the screen is bigger (maybe only the 3000xl).

i know s3000 and 2000 got all of that. S2000 has only 1 lowpass filter, don't know how many the 3000 has.

I own one myself, but I think I may end up trying to sell or trade it in. I told myself I would try to upgrade it with the multi-output and fx card, but I own a SP505, I'm close to owning a AkaiMpc 2500, so I really don't have the time for the S2000. I'm considering picking up a 2nd sp505 if they would let me trade it for the 2k.
