I have a dude that wants to trade me a NI Mikro Maschine setup. Not as familiar with this stuff, and I am already proficient with Reason. I don't know if it is worth it to go through all the hassle of learning it, when I can just get deeper in my SP's. Anybody have any experience with this stuff? What benefit can I get that I can't get from other production tools? |

I think I would love to have a maschine, but I can't seem to let go of the cash! Thing is, I can do all of that stuff in Logic (different workflow, for sure), plus I have my totally portable 404SX. The machine is nothing without a computer, so it makes it harder for me to drop the cash on it. Having said that, I still think machine is completely awesome in it's own way. |

my friend has one and the pads and workflow are really nice, you can easily load up pads with drums and samples right from the machine. The only thing i was dissappointed with was how it sounds in headphones... Not very great sp's sound way better imo |

my friend has it and it's awesome. also i don't care much about pads (i use a 404) but they are the most natural feeling and responsive pads i've used. My friend is still using the mouse alot but i've seen people using them totally hands-on without the mouse.... gotta hook it up to a computer though. Only reason i wouldn't get one is that i'd get carried away noodling with bells and whistles and never make music. i'll stick with sp/mpc |

The thing is indeed really crazy and has a bunch of trick no SP can do. Still. Sp is more portable, no computer, more like an instrument to me aka better. |

Really torn on this thing. Dude Im dealing with is kind of annoying, so I am thinking its not worth the trouble. The main reason Id get it would be for live applications, but im not very impressed with the videos. |

I would've waited, good things are coming later on this year. NI won't let Akai overshadow them with the Renaissance, my spider-senses indicate OS 2.0 or maybe a Maschine 2 all together. Also the Ren does look kinda hot right about now. I will be copping the FLY for iPad2 later this summer. |

i miss mine. i had the 1.6 model and its perfect for beefy production. loads of shit already in the software but i always found it fast and efficient in production and sampling |

no question... i've seen 4og4's on ebay for less then 100€... so you might not even have to sell the maschine; could be a useful controller for the sp... ![]() |

I'm torn with this decision too. I have peeps that swear by the maschine. However, each day I get more proficient with the MV. I definitely like not relying on a computer. If I do make the leap, it will be after "Renai" comes out. So I can give her a whirl first. Since I've never owned an MPC, but my years of research make me want the latest features on my first. I tend to hoard stuff, so I better be sure of which one I chose. |

i got a quick go on the Machine... the pads feel like hitting heaven the quick ease of pitching and tweakin the sounds assigned to the pads is a big plus. if NI made it a standalone unit i gaurantee it would surpass akai...who are going in the opposite direction and also Roland who appear to be releasing what you need ... but just not in one machine |
