The 555 will most likely be final chapter in the SP book- so cot damn can they drop the price on that thing new or what?

You think so hxc? I know those 404s sold well. I think they might have one more go at it sometime next year. I hope it will be the 707 and will be along the lines of the 505 style (if they're smart, that's what they would do, then again they don't always show a penchant for intelligence do they?). The rc-300 and the spd-sx should be killer products but I'll probably use this chance to finally get a (cheap) rc-50.

I keep hoping they'll let the sp series go out with a bang like Sony did with their md series.

@jbl
You're right. I could see like a *444 coming out or some- maybe with an i-slot, &/or super simple drag&drop editing.

Ha do you mean MiniDisc? I still have a MZ-NF810. Sony called it a 'Net-MD' walkman but the thing had no file transfer capability whatsoever.
I still use it for field recording. I just have to record them back into PT straight.
I find it has a good sort of built-in limiter thing, when used with a dynamic mic, it never over-distorts unless you absolute overjam it.

*Hope it has a D-Beam

I think jbl was referring to the hi-md(the last generation of minidisks which can upload field recordings, rec in *.wav format and play mp3 files(but only with sonicstage software)...the hi-md's where like the md's should have been since ages....
