so the tempest is a want but it's almost two thousand dollars. Korg is hinting at a mono rhythm machine. If it has an external sequencer and a mono drum track I'm in. If it has external processing and polyphony, I'm stoked. If it is less than 500 dollars, I'm buying asap.
Currently I only have this to base anything on;

oH, i Don't know. be cool to see some fresh new gear that is oout from left field. musikmesse???
I could be way wrong though. still an affordable analog rhythm machine with midi (and sequencing ability) would be sweeet.

I kind of doubt that it would have a monophonic drum machine (as opposed to stereo), and using monophonic synthesis (one note at a time) seems even more unlikely for a drum machine.

I would think more likely that it's something made up of one or several monotrons with an electribe type sequencer.

Just that they registered the name doesn't mean much though, they may change the name eventually or dump the idea.

could be monotron with step sequencer + a muiltitrack digital recorder (so that you can make one track, record it, make a new track, record/overdub it, etc)

there are pictures out. numerous on gearslutz.com. I am happy. it doesn't have midi but it has sync which i guess is cv gate. i bet it will be about 150 dollars. One person said they don't think we can trigger the synth by steps but i hope this is wrong. no specs yet but i think the three drum sounds are samples that go through the filter and the synth is just a mnontron synth but with more control and hopefully steppable.

Damn those leaked pictures look pretty cool,

bit disappointed that it's only 8 steps, but hey.. still pretty awesome.

Everyone over at vintagesynth explorer forums is making their excuses about why they told me such a thing was completely impossible when I mentioned it a couple months ago...

I kinda wish I hadn't bought a monotron now, this would be a heaps cooler toy to take on trips/etc..

Pretty stoked about this too. I checked the Japanese amazon (rakuten) and it is going for 16,800 Yen which comes out to $202 at today's exchange rate...it also says it will be available on May 28th i think.

yeah when I went back to the page they had changed the price. Hopefully it will still only be $199. It looks super fun, gonna sync it to the trigger out of my 707.

^^^not everywhere^^^
most sellers won't go down that low yet. it's rumored to be available the 28th but some people seem to have one already. I am rolling the idea of buying one around in my head but i have nothing to sync it with and imagine it will be a real hassle to build songs with through my 404. now let me see it as a filter and i might find a real use for it.

I am pretty excited because I have a delay unit I can sync it to. the BOSS DE-200 rack, it is 12-bit digital from the 80's and has a trigger input.
