Haha man I was just coming to post this. Not shipping this year but a major overhaul. Definitely hype to cop this barring something bizarre.

I just assumed the MV came with everything you needed to transfer samples easily. They make you buy more software? Bummer.

Only thing you'll want to buy pretty quick is 512MB of RAM to max out your MV, I don't have the editor software. I do not need it, transfer through USB and CD import works fine.

The editor software is there so you can make drumkits on your PC and then transfer. I rather work on my MV though then with two devices and having to still import it all later on. I hear there are a lot of complaints about the editor software too, it's not Roland who made it.

My overall original point was that the delay in the release of the Linn2, combined with consumer aggravation with Akai opens an opportunity for another Manufacturer (such as Roland) to deliver a hot box aimed at the folks ready to bounce on a Linn2 OR an MPC, and run away with the market, and earn the props from folks like us (the ultimate prize- ha ha)

Hahaha, right on! I'm sure they will release new sampler products, Roland's getting far too good with it to just let it go or something like that.

btw - have you played with the interactive MV8800 on Roland's site?

Yeah, really cool marketing. :) They used to have one for some of their other devices as well.

Suppose they scrapped the 2 separate designs in favor of just one eh?

So they're building their fourth design? I hope so, but it's a bit sad they did not go for the third design. Looked pretty cool!

I think they are indeed going to release just one device. I'm not going to hold my breath for too long though, basically it's quite likely to be released mid 2009 or so according to the latest rumors and even then nothing is set in stone as far as the features go.

The inevitable need for patience can be a real fun killer for innovative devices like this hahah!

Bet they'll have one to show off for:

Wow, lots of USB slots & an ethernet hole? VGA out. Looks promising.

That 3rd design did look tight, like a mini-moog or something. Hopefully the final design will keep that influence.

Yeah, same thoughts here. I thought their initial design wasn't too bad either, but the 3rd one definitely looks awesome as it is. A bit clunky perhaps, but the moog look is sick.

i really like the newest one. i thought all the knobs on the synth version was a little clunky. this one looks more like something that could rival the MV series (probably one-up it). however, it doesn't look portable at all.

The third design looks sick, looks old school. They said that the 3rd design is now abandoned for the current one, why can't they just make up their mind? By the time this thing comes out, people will have already have forgotten about it.

I like the 2nd design best.

I'll still be waiting 3 years from now if thats what it takes..

judging by its cover (generally not safe thing to do lol!)

it is going to fulfill all of my needs.

Glad to see he's finally admitted it is a rival to the MPCs/MVs unlike before when he said it's meant to be it's own thing. Either way looks like it's going to be pretty good, hopefully it's got some sick effects and is quick/practical to use, would be like an SP on crack.
